so what's the difference between a self serv pressure washer and a carwash that pressure washes your whole car?

The difference is in a self serve pressure washer, you control the spray (power spray wand) and minimize the chance of damage.

Although odds are low in getting your car damaged in an auto car wash, it does happen as you're not in control at all. With the damages that do happen as posted by other unhappy owners, it's not worth the grief to take a chance at an auto car wash. Even if it's an auto pressure car (touchless) wash.

Also, take note that auto car washes use very harsh soap and detergents as they wouldn't want to rewash every car/truck/suv that goes through it.

If you love your G, it's hand wash all the way with quality car wash soap.

In the end, it's still up to you.
