Help With Brake Pads
It's time for me to change my break pads. Should I stick with the OEM pads or should I go after market? I only use my car to go to work so I don't race it at all.
OEM pads from the dealer are about $206 + tax from the dealer.
I see a lot of people user HAWKS pads. Are they any good or are they a lower grade from the OEM pads. I see them at Crappy tire for much cheaper.
I don't want pads that will wear out faster then the OEM pads. I don't want pads that will give more break dust then the OEM pads nor do I want them to make any noise.
Installation will be done by me.
Thoughts please.
Thanks in advance folks.

Hawk HP Pads and Breaking in process....!
[QUOTE=white_gts]It's time for me to change my break pads.
I see a lot of people user HAWKS pads.
A lot of our members do use Hawk HP brake pads and for good reason. OEM
brake pads leave a lot to be desired, short life and way to much dust. One
of the secrets to using Hawk HP brake pads is using the brake in process. Once you've completed this process you won't have squeeks or dust and they'll last. Try to find an open road with no traffic and try not to come to
a complet stop until the process is complete....
Do three 45 mph to 10 mph runs
Do two 35 mph to 10 mph runs
Then do one 65 to 10 mph run
Now park your car and don't drive it for several hours if possible. You can tell
by the smell your brakes are super hot and the process is completed. G/L

Which ones better?
The HPS or the Performance Ceramic HAWK Pads?
I ask because after reading through so many threads some people say HPS some say the Ceramic some say HPS makes noise and some say they don't. Very confusing info I am getting.
The bottom line is I don't want any extra noise coming from my brake pads as the OEM's give me no noise at all and as long as the brake dust stays the same as the OEM or less I am happy. Stopping power has to be the same or better and has to perform well when wet or cold.

Where are you located?
I use a shop just outside of Toronto, and they typically sell parts (all new) at a fairly reduced cost. I haven't had to buy/repair/replace anything on the G yet, but I'm assuming he can get parts pretty cheap as requested.
If you want, I can make a call and find out for you once you decide. Just have to know what you want. And whether or not you're around the Toronto area.
Good luck,
