Any Thoughts? (Ontario Speeding Laws)

With the severe Ontario speeding laws? My opinion, the laws were passed because of several injuries and deaths that occurred in Southern Ontario in the last fews years.
My take on the subject. The individuals involved in most part were a bunch of punks! and I will call them punks. Mostly a younger crowd living in the GTA. As a result the rest of society has to suffer. I don't condone excessive speeds. There is a time and place for going WOT.
It's not about pulling up beside someone and giving them the nod! Thats how accidents happen. I just came back from a drive and did a good 120mph.
I never challenged anyone. I did it on a stretch of road I am familiar with with absolutely no bystanders or pedestrians. Yet according to the law I'm a lunatic! All replies welcome.

Shilohap,
I hear you, but you must admit that going that speed is best on the track where roads and facilities are designed for such activities, and help is closeby in the event of a problem.....

Drive safe , and save the rest for the track........

I've gotta agree with Msedanman. The problem isn't so much driving fast, as those people who drive at or below the limit - you never know what other people will do, or when they'll show up. It only takes a second to cause an accident - and don't forget you never know when that'll happen (just imagine blowing a tire at 120mph on the 401!).

I'm sure like most of us here, I got my G cause I do love driving fast. If I really wanna tear it up, i'll hit the track, cause not only can I go fast there, but know if I screw up, its a hell of a lot safer than a public highway.

PS. I'm all for the racing laws. Frankly, i'm sick of idiots pulling up to me in their riced out cars wanting to race in the middle of downtown.

I've noticed in the short time that I have owned my G that you really have to watch your speed in daily driving. Slower drivers aren't really aware that faster cars can creep up on them in a matter of seconds.
They are making a lane change and your not even on their radar, I have had to make corrections in my G several times already, definitely not a car I would like to see a person with no attention span driving, but that same can be said for any fast car.

EXACTLY my thoughts. It is dangerous to go WOT because other people do not expect you to accelerate nearly that fast and start turning in front of you...

i don't mind the punishments for going excessively fast, but when modifications are made illegal (i'm talking the basic kind that are so popular on these forums, even as simple as a Z tube), that's when i draw the line, often these "project d'loi" or proposals or what ever you call them are worded in such a way that you could loose your car, or getting a nasty fine, for, for example, replacing your muffler with a generic quiet one 'cause your oem one rusted out, or basically having any non-oem part on the vehicle. Heck, they're even trying to make scooter modifications illegal, even the act of modifying a scooter will be illegal.

(as for exhausts, for now you're allowed anything (with original cats intact) that's no louder than stock.)

it's downright insulting some times.

^+1 ... sh*t happens... and murphy's law always seems to sneak in at the most inconvenient time. i usually ride up north with my bike because of the twists. usually the roads are empty... but sometimes you hit that untimely cyclist or farm tractor on a blind turn, hidden driveway, etc....

stay safe and keep the obscene speeds on the track!
