Re: Cleaning - what products/from where/how much?

Hey PC, thanks for the lead, I was there yesterday and picked up a few pieces. I figured I saved a few bucks, since ordering the kit from the Canadian distributor still costs $10 for shipping, but this way I got it right away. I also didn't pick up the swirl remover, since mine's an '04.

For future shoppers, its called the "Barber's Chair". It on the lower level in front of the Wal-mart entrance.

That's a really good point. I was going to pick up the leather cleaner at the Barber's Chair in Mississauga, but when I mentioned that to Joe, he asked the exact same thing.

I distinctly recall the guy I bought it from saying that. Maybe he meant that he got the rugs/carpets scotchgarded? I dunno... I'll have to double check.

Yeah he probably scotchguarded the carpet/mats and not the leather.

For the zaino leather, there are two products - Z9 is the cleaner and the Z10 is the conditioner. I'm thinking you'll want the Z10conditioner more than the cleaner...

Ok, then, maybe not scotchgard, but is there some sort of 'factory' leather treatment?

I'm an avid user of the Zaino System but have found that the new wax from Meguiar's (NXT Generation Tech Wax) is much more effective on non metallic body panels (front & rear bumpers, outside rear view mirrors, headlights and for those that have it, clear bras).

Meguiar's Next Generation of Technology...Engineered Synthetic Polymers (ESP) NXT Generation Tech Wax

You can get it from,

Paint Circuit Auto Body Supplies
473 McNicoll Avenue,
North York, ON

Tel. 416-490-8883

They give discounts to members of car clubs. The wax brand new to the market an not readily available from general retail outlets. The wax is about $30.00

i've always used carnuba wax, but recently i investigated synthetic waxes (also called sealants). the biggest names are wolfgang and klasse. i bought both and they arrived today - i hope to test out soon.

Zaino and CG are polymers. As for leather, if you have willow, get both Zaino products- good for cleaning the dirty rub caused by the seat belt extension arm on the top of the seat back. You'll realise how dry the leather in a car interior gets too, as the conditioner gets sucked up in a blink. As for Z2 on wheels- I Z2'ed my winters before installation, and with the originals off for the winter, I cleaned, clay barred, Z2 and Z6'ed the wheels with 3 coats, front and back. Very slick. Brake dust jumps off the wheels in comparison. Build up is less. I don't even use wheel cleaner or an automotive cleaner. Zaino car wash and a soft wheel brush I picked up at Cdn Tire (looks like a bottle brush- I only use it to clean between the spokes on the inner face).
