Clay Bar
Yeah I thought about painting the grill DG as well, I have to eventually paint the rear bumper as I backed into a lightpost...no dent but I spidered the paint on the drivers side.
I clay barred, seal&glazed and waxed last fall and I was equally amazed.
It hit home when I put a coffee traveller on the roof while putting my stuff in, it started to slide off
A buddy told me you should only clay bar a vehicle at max three times, as it would start to wear on the clear coat, I don't know if he's on or not, anyone else know?

Good stuff shilohap!!! Clay bar is an ESSENTIAL tool in your detailing arsenal. I spent 14 hours detailing my G yesterday and today and you wouldn't believe how much surface contamination the clay bar removed. Before I started, I slid my hand over some of the panels and the paint literally felt like sand paper. You won't get a smooth mirror finish on your paint without using clay bar.
Travellin007, your friend is incorrect. You can use clay bar as often as necessary with no ill effect on your paint. You can even do a full compound on your car twice a year for 20+ years before you would ever get through the clear coat.

And a good cheers to you Mr.Canuck! A clay bar is like shaving your legs...lol
And before I nod off for the evening.. 14hrs....Good God! I was exhausted after 5hrs.

Does anyone recommend a clay bar? Or basically they are all the same? I have a clay bar, but need to get a new one, and solution. Just didnt know if i should order anything specific, or go down to pep boys or somewhere, and pick anyone up. Thanks in advance.

I personally use Clay Magic's fine grade, however it's all personal preference and there really isn't one that's better than the other. A clay bar by Megs will perform just as good as the one I use by Clay Magic. Outside of color and strength, they are pretty much all the same.

wash/dry
clay bar
two-step compound (using Menzerna SIP and Menzerna 0106FF)
sealed with Menzerna FMJ
waxed on day two with Nattys Blue
Poorboys wheel sealant/Poorboys Bold N Bright on wheels/tires
vacuumed and shampooed interior
303 Aerospace on interior
Lexol leather conditioner on seats.
The polishing is what took up the majority of the time.
Btw, your G looks fantastic!

And thanks for confirming that, to put it delicately, some consider themselves experts on everything, it's up to everyone else to figure out that perhaps they are not.
+1 on clay bar to remove contaminants, then use a polish, wax and sealant -- preferably with a good power polisher like a Porter Cable -- and then sit back with a cold beer and admire your work. AFTER you post pics.
