Buying Stateside?
Buying Stateside?
Hi All,
I don't have a G yet, but have decided that my next car will be one.
Quick question - have any Canucks bought used Gs from the States and brought them over? I hear that unless the vehicle is manufactured in the US, Canada, or Mexico, then you have to pay 6% duty, which might take a serious bite out of lower prices you see from US dealers.
I see some of those cars from states like Georgia, Florida, etc. that have never seen a grain of Canadian road salt and they sure look pristine, so it's tempting.
Any thoughts, info, etc.?

Mine car is from the us. It was the only place i could find the combo I wanted. It is super easy to import and you pay the 6.1% duty when you pay the gst on the car at the border. This is for any car made outside of north america in accordance with nafta. With the east coast cars though I would be a little weary to make sure that they were not involved in any type of flood or hurricane. In the end I didnt save too much after all of the taxes but I got the car I wanted and the drive back was a blast.
