Why an SES light when running Test Pipes???

I have a chance to pick up a set of Res. test pipes on Fri, the price is good but it kinda bothers me that I'll have my "Service Engine Soon" light on. Is there any way I can get the light off by tricking the ECU? I have a code reader but if I reset it will just come back in a day.

Try getting some Anti-foulers. You thread these into where the sensors go then thread the sensors into the anit-foulers. This should clear the problem of the SEL light. Its the most common fix.

will a dual output o2 sim work? The secondaries monitor the catalysts to see if they are working, since they are not there (precats), they are not working. so you get an SES.

Hmm never heard of them but sounds interesting

Now another concern is with the SES on is my car going to run rich? I know when ever my Prelude used to throw a code (caused by the VTEC Controller) the car would burn fuel like a V8 untill I reset it.

go to any Kragen / OReilly / Autozone / generic parts store and look for their 'HELP' display. The part you're looking for is a spark plug non fouler and if i remember correctly, you want the 18mm ones. They look like this:

It's hit or miss whether pipes will trip the SES light. The non-foulers are also known as o2 bungs.

I have F/I non-res pipes. First went with no bungs then short bungs and finally j-bungs to try and fix this with no luck. Tried wideband o2 sensors...no luck, still got SES light daily with codes for the right/left banks.

Had codes diagnosed and results showed the sensors thought the car was lean in #6 cyl so was adding 10% more fuel to compensate. I ended up buying a hand-held obd2 reader and clearing the memory every time I started my car.

Finally solved the problem yesterday...had an Osiris Uprev dyno tune done and while they were at it turned off all codes for both banks.

ps-luvin' the Uprev...on the Mustang(heartbreaker)dyno I only gained 10whp but got a whopping 36WTQ!!!
