Surgeon stopped for Speeding..
I agree. And every case is different. Every cop is different. Wouldnt a warning have sufficed in a situation like this, I know ive had warnings when i should have a tickets, and I proceeded to drive at posted speeds following...
Sucks for the top cardio surgeon in Canada though.

A friend of ours is a top cardio surgeon in Toronto and I know the $300 fine wouldn't bother him. lol. The bad publicity would though. That's why the surgeon reportedly made the statement that he wants to keep it a private matter but you know the media. They just can't let a negative story go untold.
well i guess next time any cop is under fire the police shouldn't speed to that, they could be risking more lives (that is what they are saying and should from here in be practiced). wow, there such hypocrites, they can speed to a robbery or just for fun, and a doctor can't speed to rescue a patient, common people.
When i was younger I was always afraid of cops, they always looked intiminating. as i grew up i grew i thought the police were always there to protect you soon I have found this the opposite. One time my house alarm went off (not because of a break-in, but because my dog accidentaly knocked something over setting it off) anyways the police were called, and had not even been deployed 20 minutes later!
Point is, is cops are there to protect people, not to give out tickets, speeding tickets are a tax, thats why they just make you pay money. Its all just a game, cops love pulling over the innocent driver. We have enough taxes as is in Canada, and its about time somebody stood up to them. The government is a big bully.
sorry to any of you that are cops or have friends and family that are cops such as i do, however a few ruin it for all.
O, and by the way, i have never gotten a speeding ticket or been ticketed or charged with any infraction. Been pulled over a couple times just for a checkup, cops were nice, but talked to me in what one might call inappriate manner, but i thought it was funny - so yes there are some good guys out there.

I would like to agree that tickets are bs and they need to be doing other things to actually protect and serve, but the truth is, a majority of the laws are put in place for a reason of concern that the majority voiced to the government. People don't like smokers, so they make a law saying you can't smoke near buildings, etc... or people talking on cell phones or texting, sending emails, etc... when they're driving, so they make a law prohibiting that - which should be common sense to begin with... but when that happens, the officers have to enforce that law.
But for the most part, speeding, etc... is a safety concern and so they ticket you for doing so. Yea, I can agree that the system can be better, that we don't need officers sitting on a corner ticketing everybody who doesn't make a full stop at a stop sign as long as they're actually keeping themselves aware of their surroundings. But honestly, as long as the officer isn't hiding, wouldn't you have made the full stop if you were truly aware of your surroundings and actually saw him? OK, I've recieved a ticket because although I made a full stop, part of my front bumper was over the line - now that was bs.
And yea, there are a lot of @ssholes with badges, I can't argue that. Unluckily for those who aren't, the @ssholes ruin the image for all. Just like how it takes one f*ck up to ruin a business's rep, or one ricer to make the rest of us car enthusiasts look bad. But in the same respect, it only takes one good officer to do something to help someone to sway that person's opinion, unless that person is just another @sshole without a badge.

Should Docs speed every time they're on call?
This is the regular routine for on call docs; they're on duty, they get a call & they drive in.
IF it's problem for the on call Doc getting to the hospital in time. (remember he knows ahead that he is on call).
Isn't this the Docs problem for failing to plan properly for his on call duty?
There's a big difference between a cop that's trained for the situation and a Doc cruising in his Lex.

I know when Karen was on call at the Hospital, she had to make sure she could get to the Hospital in a certain time during an emergency and we had to make sure that was possible by not venturing too far and to not put ourselves in a place where you could be held up by traffic etc.

Seems to be a lot of varying opinions on here along with some distortion of the facts.
I pretty much agree you can't have regular citizens that far over the speed limit and consider a few minutes possibly saved as justification for putting other drivers/pedestrians at risk.
Having said that it seems to be too often police exempt themselves from practicing what other citizens have to do - driving within the limits. It's more than occasionally I see them speeding in non life threatening situations. Not that I've never done any speeding myself. LOL

i was exaggerating
point is, ive known peolpe that have heart attack's / strokes
it was the doctors fault for not being nearer, but i know every moment counts during those short minutes after they have the attack
ex. u have an attack near a hospital, the chances of u recovering and not dieing are substantially higher than some1 who has a heart attack or stroke at home with no one home for the next hour
