UR Crank Pulley.....is it worth it??

I thought I would find it on the Mod forums but no luck so I'll ask here. I have an 04 Sedan 6spd, mods so far AEM CAI, 5/16 Plenum spacer, coupe Mid, Y-pipe, headers, Res. Test pipes. I have a chance to buy a UR Crank pulley ($60.) for those that have this is it a gain in HP or a worthless mod? If someone could give me their input ASAP I'm supposed to pick it up tomorrow.

Thanks

I have an 06 5AT. Just had the UR pulley kit installed and dyno-tuned at the same time. They said the pulleys gave me no gain.

WOW no gain?? that would be something I would write to UR about, you must have spent at least $300. between the kit and installation that would have me fiurious.

Anyone else experience the same results?

From what i have read the Ur pulley has no gains and can even wreck your crank from so info i have found on my350z. They only ones that are worth while are ATI and Fluidampr. They are harmonic damper that help out more in mid to high hp cars. They are a little more. I just picked up a ATI for 350 US. Do a search and you can see some of the threads.

Here is one

I wasn't expecting HP gain, just being able to rev slightly faster.
After reading that thread, I thing I might take off my UR set.
Since I'm reving past 7K rpm.

i'm skeptical of most light weight pulleys, you really have no idea how balanced they are.

i think they only show gains on a turbo or a nitrous setup. I noticed my engine seems to run a bit smoother with the lightened pulley.

Roy, From what I've read, all that the pulleys are good for on these engines is quicker revving but what far outweighs that benefit is that they can upset the delicate balance of the engine and cause some strange and destructive harmonics of the already well balanced VQ.

I've used balancers b4 on American iron which is not as well balanced, but would not on the G's engines, nor any other Japanese engine.

Put the $$ into something else.

Colin.

Sorry Knight, but I had to share.

hope u got it! its worth every penny! at the very least even tho no power gain, which is weird cuz its gave me 2-8whp all through out, it stresses ur engine less, its a moving part that should be about 7-9lbs lighter then stock, and at the time i had an 5AT as well.

You must not have read the link provided
Over time the UR can cause premature bearing failure due to it not being balanced, I run an ATI myself and it is underdriven but also balanced. As red35 stated the are a few hundred bucks and are heavier than stock so on a stock engine you would likely not see performance gains.

so you don't actually have the UR crank pulley he was asking about but instead you have a complete set of AMS under drive pullies.
