Recommendation for Winter Tires
#16
For the first few months of serious snow I had no confidence in my winters, but as time went i got more and more confidence until these tires felt unstoppable. Maybe its true about having thinner tires and rims, but IMHO my conclusion is that blizzacks are amazing winter tires no matter what size you go with.

I have to respectfully disagree with this statement. When I went to alta infiniti to swap my rubbers for the blizzacks on the 19"oem. They told me 'I messed up i paid too much money for these tires that are not going to be effective at all in the winter because of their width. A thinner tire will be able to cut though the snow and be able to touch the road better than a thick tire'.

FWIW, the dealer is only partially right about tire width and snow tires. Narrower tires will cut through deep snow better, but under all other conditions (e.g., packed snow, slush, ice) more tire contact (i.e., width) equals more traction.

Oh man you guys have been awesome help!...didn't realize there was so much feedback. Awesome! Thanks!!
Looks like the clear winner is Blizzaks. Appologize in advance to others that disagree...lol
17" or 18"....i may lean to 18s as I run 18 Michelin One Pilot Sport when I have the car out in the summer.
I'm thinking Tirerack....i was hoping to catch some end of season sales but not many stores even carry 17" or 18". Dang it.
Any suggestions for good places to buy? I'm in Durham region.
