I always thought you had to go to Infiniti to cut keys.

What does the back look like, in the ebay pic, there's a hollow area where the nissan thing should be.
I just went to Crappy Tire to get the key cut. The hollow area comes with a silver nissan logo that you stick on once you screw it together. The sticker covers a screw that holds the two halfs together.

That is true but with this solution you need to remove the transponder chip from the OEM key and implant it in this new case. This way you don't need to re-program anything. The transponder looks like a little green chip that you remove from the front of the key.

Just so I don't mess up lol

I have a uncut Infiniti key, get it cut at a hardware store first.

1) How do you get the transponder chip out from the OEM key?
2) How do you get just the metal key part onto the new folding remote? The extra uncut key I have has that plastic part at the top, do you cut that off?

It is even easier than that.

Just order the cover. When it arrives, take it apart by unscrewing the three screws on the back. When you open it, the metal key blank and spring will pop out. Take the metal blank (which comes with the cover - you don't need to buy anything extra) and your OEM key to Crappy tire and have the metal blank cut. Then go home and take your transponder chip out - I used a thin micro screwdriver to just pop it out.

Put it all together and you are done. It really is easy. I ordered another one so if you want to wait a week, I'll post some picture when it comes in.

Just did this over the weekend, can't believe how easy it was, unfortunately I dropped one of the mini screws and can't locate it so watch out for that.

Cut mine at home depot for $2.96 including taxes, the guy was kinda perplexed but I assured a couple times don't worry about the chip, etc...

Out of curiosity, how long did it take for your flip case to arrive? I ordered one a week or so ago, but the ebay auction said it takes up to three weeks to ship.

You will need to open it up anyway to put in the chip but you do need to take the uncut key out for anybody to cut it properly.

I got mine in 1.5-2 weeks.

Mine took a few weeks, but came with the wrong blank. The Ebay Seller said they don't have that blank available for it ??? so i cut a cheap blank to fit in the female end of the flip key.

Some 2003 models do not actually use the chip in the key, so be careful if you have an 04- model. OPer, have you trie a blank wthout a chip? I had issues with the key not starting the car so i just don't bother using the flip-key anymore.
