Also if it is still loose, you can wrap a little bit of scotch tape around it just to hold it in place. Are you sure you are putting it in the right spot? I did two of these and they hold the chip in tight. The other thing to try is flip the chip around and try it in with the curved side facing down.

So do all 2004s come with the chip? How do you determine if you have a chip or not?

I thought the chip was embedded in the metal in the centre of the key, which I don't see on mine and my car is 2004 coupe. So I don't have it then?

^It's in the plastic part of the key, not the fob. There is a little plastic tab covering it. Use a small flathead screwdriver to pry it out.

Oh hey! Whadya know? I found it! I would've never thought to have looked at that angle of the key. You're right, it's sort of in the 'base' of the 'hilt' of the key. Weird!

Thanks a lot!

A small pin or small flat head screwdriver is all that you need to pop out the chip.

In the key right next to the key itself. You will notice a small rectangular cut out. Pop that out and the chip is in there.

I am very happy with how it came out. Exactly what I expected. Glad to finally have it all in one unit.

So I bought one off ebay that came from china and all the parts from the key fob fits tightly, so I just have to lightly trim the rubber pieces off to really make out snug in order for the buttons to have enough pressure to still work. I bought a cheap"oem" key with what I thought had the chip so I can easily remove. But it wasn't oem. That slot doesn't actually come out. So I lost hope bc I didn't want to buy another key.

Was cleaning out my drawer and found an old oem key that we could never find out who it belonged to. Called Mrs. Keys in long beach and they said they could reprogram the chip for $40! But that's bc I stated the $40, I bet he would do it for 20-30 if I tried. Will see how it works. They programmed my spare key from ebay along time ago for 60. So I trust them.

Will post updates
