Preety picture Shane.

Yeah, guess a lot of us from Ontario here are getting hit. We're supposed to have somewhere between 40 and 60cm when this thing is done. Must be 30 down now.

Wow Deane, you guys are getting hit much harder than we are. We probably have about 10-15cms down now and are expected to get around 30cms.

Yeah, I'd say so by your pictures. We had more down by first thing this morning. I would post some pictures but my photobucket thingy doesn't seem to be working anymore??

Just had an email from my folks who are in texas a few miles north of the mexican border on the gulf coast. They say it's been down to zero at night and only 5-10 daytime during the storm. Normal is mid 20's+.

Lots of snow, cold weather and windy. What a horrible day to drive and I had to drive 50+km to school each way. Couldn't see much while fish tailing but at least I didn't get stuck.

^thanks. We're hoping for a nice swing too. It's not so cold but just piles of snow and windy now too. Snow has stopped for now.

Just a memory of some of the people out west...

I've been through Calgary airport a number of times... I remember first time I went it was in February a few years back. Our plane landed and a lot of the ground crew were wearing shorts. At that time it was maybe just around the freezing mark and I thought it was a bit nuts.

Well, this year... when we landed in Calgary on Jan 15th it was -25.... what do I see? A guy once again in his shorts on the tarmac. I don't know if he was working outside or just having a smoke break, but he was just standing there as though there's nothing to it! I had to go outside to get on a transfer flight to Kamloops and in the 1-2 minutes I was outside in my winter outfit I was freezing!

haha that was so true, today i went work around 8, the streets were empty, no car driving, everyone i know either called it a day off or call in sick.

and it wasnt even close to they predict, seriously, 30cm worst storm ever???

i guess we were so spoiled by the non-existant winter last year, this proper winter seems to scare everyone.

We ended up getting 25cms of snow yesterday/last night. At least it's the fluffy stuff and not all wet and heavy. We had a green Christmas, but it sure has snowed a lot so far in 2011. The forecast is calling for more on Sunday.

It was only -37 in the early morning hours the day time temps were around -30 to -32 and the week before that we were 0 to -10 so we have had a roller coster of temps and we got hit pretty good with snow in January. In Edmonton lots of residential and commercial roofs were collapsing I even got my fat a$$ up on our roof to shovel although i was almost more worried about the 250lbs walking around on the roof than some more snow causing problems

Relatively normal temperature swings due to our weather patterns, which are somewhat unique due to our proximity to the mountains. Typically such a swing is due to a chinook, but the current one just seems to be a body of warm air replacing a very cold one. Back to cold and snow by the weekend.

38 cm here yesterday which followed 15cm the day before. We had less than 10 on the ground before this all started but now it looks like the arctic around here.

Yeah, we've got a little more coming too. Soon will be time for a major thaw and rain. Can't wait.
