where to buy a torque wrench?
where to buy a torque wrench?
I'm looking to purchase a torque wrench for use when swapping wheels. Can anyone suggest a brand they would recommend?
Thanks

If there is a local 'Princess Auto', you can pick up a decent torque wrench for about $40 with a lifetime warranty. They have locations all over Canada. I've also seen the same one at the 'House of Tools'. I tried them against the ones from CTC and Sears, and I returned the other ones.

Re: where to buy a torque wrench?
Is there any real difference between say crappy tire torque wrench and one from snap on tools? What are some of the features that factor the price?
Maybe I'll just check out Sears, Home Depot etc. and see what I find.

Great tip on Princess Auto gordgee, picked up the 1/2" torque wrench for $39 and cause there was a sale on a whole bunch of other toys, ...er tools.

Re: where to buy a torque wrench?
For those of you in no hurry, sometimes Princess Auto has them on sale for about $25!!!
The main difference that I've noticed is that the finish and construction of the higher priced torque wrenches is usually better. Also a little easier to read, adjust and lock-in the setting. Probably worth the extra if you use these things several times on a daily basis. Otherwise I've found that even the princess model is as accurate, and it has a lifetime warranty. It's also good to prevent over-torquing your oil drain plug, etc. Good investment for $25-$40!
