Quote: I understand that now Alan, What I don't understand is Hydrazine's reference to the '05 M/T's "revup" feature.............

In other words, what makes the '05 M/T a "revup" engine? It's obviously different than the A/T engine, and has something to do with the plenum.
Does it rev higher or quicker or what, with the different plenum?
It seems the M/T has the higher hp (298) engine, over the A/T (280) engine.

I was just wondering.....it's not important.

Colin, if it makes you feel better...I'm still confused about the "rev-up" reference. I thought all along my car had the "rev-up" feature as Infiniti explained it to me.

I was explained by the dealer that it is when I manually down shift with the steptronic. It is an awesome feature in the new '05 engine that I use all the time and makes my car real fun to drive.

If that's not "rev-up" then what is it?

Yes.
Since the purpose of the iso-thermal kit & copper throttle body kit is to lower intake temperature.
It will work with all models, including the "revup" '05 MT.

Chico,
the revup you're talking about is probably the rev-matching on the new G's, Q, and on my M.> While in manual mode and shifting down at speed, the engine is revved slightly to match the lower gear. This prevents sudden jerkiness and jarring that you would normally get.
A great feature........

The rev-up on the '05 M/T's just refers to the up performance engines which rev higher and produce more hp (at higher rpms) than the A/T rides, but sacrifice a little torque.
See how quickly I learn...lol, I almost sound like I know what the hell I'm talking about.........

LOL, you did have me going there for a sec. You know more than me in that regard. Anyway, I knew it had something to do with "rev...something" I'm beginning to sound like a noob.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I was ready to go to war at my dealership, which BTW I visited tonight and saw a couple of X's

Colin,

Does your "M" rev match while in full auto mode?

I have noticed that my sedan is acting like that when going into a lower gear.
I just got my car back( about one week now) from the dealer for a throttle body actuator replacement. I had to wait for over two weeks. Since the part never arrived in time, another car was stripped of its part and donated to me.
Perhaps my car has been rev matching all along but I have just never noticed it. It does this in both full auto and in steptronic modes.

There is no rev matching on the '03 & '04 models.
It's a new feature that smooths downshifting.
It's like doing a double clutch, rev match, downshift in a MT.
Only it's done by the TCU

LOL, Chico, like I said, I'm just putting things together (slowly).. and am a little behind on the newer rides, especially the 'rev-up' rides. but it's coming. --

we've come to the right place for a 'tune-up' that's for sure....

Hi Bill,
I haven't noticed any rev-maching per se in Auto mode, but there is a slight increase in rpm's as the lower gears appear to engage.
It's difficult to corelate because the downshifting in our trannies is so seamless and hard to detect, but as you say, there is some kind of increase in engine speed to facilitate that lower gear.

The Manual Mode rev-matching in my M is quite noticeable (if you watch the tach) - which revs the engine more depending on the downshift and vehicle speed.
Without watching the tach, the only message that there is a downshift is the louder burble of the exhausts.

Haha, I've noticed a few VQ's don't burble too badly either.

Bill, I had a second thought about your '03 : It's possible the dealer reflashed your ECU/TCU to allow the more familiar 'rev-maching' .
I'm not sure this is possible, but I do know some current updates can be performed on non current model's 'puters.

Would be interesting to find out from your dealer.

They changed the ECU/TCU in '04.5
reflash is not possible.

I think Bill's noticing better behavior from the new TB,
which probably also helps the tranny function better as a secondary benefit.

The car seems to be pulling a little harder( seat dyno) since I've had the car back.
I'll drop by the dealer next week and ask if a re flash was done. I don't recall what the
work order said at this time( I'm at work right now so I can't check on it).

Thanks for the input guys.
