Re: Anyone Buy From 417 Infiniti in Ottawa??

Bought a sedan from them last year. Not a huge mark down, but i got max trade in price for a 3 series. You should know that there is a problem with the brakes. They need to be replaced by 25-30K km, including both pads and rotors. So far Infiniti isn't claiming any responsibility; their position is that it is just normal wear. If you are planning to buy one, budget $600 to $800 per year for this item.

Re: Anyone Buy From 417 Infiniti in Ottawa??

I'm seriously considering purchasing from them also. But from what I heard, they do not offer a loan car but I could be wrong. There is now quite a lot of coupe in Ottawa (seen at least 5 now) so hopefully, one of them is a member here and can give us some feedback. Do you know of any other Infiniti dealership in the Ottawa region? Or in Gatineau for that matter? I just don't feel safe purchasing a car knowing that it would be the only place to service it especially if their service sucks.

We have so many Nissan Dealerships here but only one Infiniti, it just doen't make sense. Going to Toronto or Montreal to buy my car is also an option which means I don't have to take their first offer if I don't like it. My suggestion to you is to shop around and take your time. It's alot of money so don't feel this is the only place you can get your car. BTW, I intend to get a G35 coupe and my brother in law an FX35/45 (still unsure) at the same time so if they can't give us a good price, they can kiss our... you know what hehehe.

Re: Anyone Buy From 417 Infiniti in Ottawa??

I have seen a few coupes in Ottawa and as far as I know they are the only dealership around unless you want to go to Toronto or Montreal. I have heard a rumour that Tony Graham Nissan in Ottawa is going to become an Infiniti dealer as well, anyone else hear this??? Anyone recommend a salesperson to deal with at 417???

Re: Anyone Buy From 417 Infiniti in Ottawa??

I haven't heard that rumour before but if it turns out to be true, I think I'll wait for them. Tony Graham is an excellent dealership and the good thing is that they are willing to negotiate. My brother bought his Lexus IS300 from them and he only has praises. I will most likely go to Montreal or Toronto if this does not happen.

As for Infiniti 417, my brother in-law spoke with one salesman about the FX and from what he told me, he was very helpful and nice. I'll ask him what was his name. The only thing with this dealership is that they do not offer test drive and you have to give a small downpayment when ordering. But the good thing is that when the car gets here and after the test drive, you do not like it, they refund your downpayment. They say that the Infiniti cars sells like hot cake and they can resell it really fast. Personnally, I don't really believe that last statement and it sounds more like a pressure tactics to make us buy it as fast as we can. They say exactly the same thing at the Mazda dealership (from what my friend told me).

From what it sound, I think you'll get your car before I do hehehe. Over $50K including the taxes is a lot of money so I'll defenitly take my time and let Infiniti fix the little glitches before I make up my mind.

I am not in a hurry either, starting to think I will just wait for the 04 models to start arriving. Doesn't appear to be much a change from the 03, just waiting to hear what the price increase will be. I think they will let you drive a G35 sedan, the problem is, they never seem to have any coupes in stock!!

Re: Anyone Buy From 417 Infiniti in Ottawa??

While I did not go direct, my car was bought thru 417. I don't really know either of the salesman well, but Lyle seems okay. I brought the car in for some warrantee work and was provided with a loaner- I'd be surprised if any did not, since Infiniti's TOE policy specifies directly that one will be provided. In general, I would say 417 is okay. They were really good with sorting out a wheel balance problem when I first bought the car. I'm still working on a mismatched body panel (driver rocker panel isn't really desert platinum IMO) so I'll keep you posted. Expect to pay MSRP. I think the key for most coupe sales will be to get a strong price for your trade-in, for those with vehicles to trade.

Cheers,
Derek

Re: Anyone Buy From 417 Infiniti in Ottawa??

miked - I'm with you, my intention has always been to wait for the 2004 model. In fact, I may even wait for the 2005 if there is any news of an AWD model. Also, I never buy a first year model production due to the bugs in the production. I don't expect a major increase in price either (after all, $50K is already a lot for a car) but I'm sure most of the little bug will be fixed so it's a win win situation. And you are right, 417 Infiniti have nothing in stock, no G35 coupe, no FX which sucks. People usually make up their mind after a test drive. The whole craze is gonna die sooner or later so they will have to go below MSRP by then. Take for exemple the Acura TL or RSX which were selling, in their third and second year respectively, a few thousands below MSRP. I'm not saying I will wait for this to happen but just that it could happen sooner then expected.

derek - Thanks for the info on the loaner question. I was told otherwise by people and I also saw their shuttle van on the street with their name on it so I assumed that there was no loaner. Good to hear that I was wrong.

Re: Anyone Buy From 417 Infiniti in Ottawa??

I bought my coupe (black/black, 6MT, no Nav) from 417, initially they were unwilling to reduce the price from the MSRP, I called up APA, took their price ($1500 off the MSRP) and went back, they honoured it without too much of a problem. The coupes really are in strong demand, I had to wait for a couple of months for mine, they had a bunch of 5ATs coming in during that time and as far as I know they were all pre-sold and I never saw one on the lot for more than a couple of days. They have quite a lot of 2003.5 sedans in the lot, and they're going for very little markup on top of invoice pricing.......

I dealt with Eve Jackobsen (salewoman), no problems in that section, she helped me out quite a lot...... had a major issue with the business manager, you can either search for my previous posts or PM me for more details.....

Re: Anyone Buy From 417 Infiniti in Ottawa??

The rumours were actually true. Tony Graham Lexus Toyota confirmed me today that their Nissan dealership will expand to also sale Inifiniti cars. This is an extremely good news since we will now have the choice in our region. Eventhough this will not happen in the near future (they never told me when), I'm ready to wait for them. Call me crazy for waiting that long but I'm REALLY not in a rush to spend over $50K for a car. By then, I guess the G35's hotness will have cooled down hehehe.

Re: Anyone Buy From 417 Infiniti in Ottawa??

Hey guys,

I tried to buy a coupe from 417 and it was the worst car buying experience ever. I had negotiated a price with them (-$1000) list, gox a max trade in value and they had said that if I wanted the car it was mine. Lyle, said don't worry about it, think it over tonight and if you want the car, call him in the morning. I called him back in the morning and he said "Ohh yeah...sorry, someone else bought that car after you left". He then said, that they had more coupes coming in next month and that I could get the coupe I wanted then. I agreed, paid my deposit and then boom....had his flunky sales man call me back and tell me that they really didn't have the car I wanted on order, they were going to trade with another dealer and that fell through...so basically sorry you are SOL. I would never recommend them to anyone who wants anything other than indigestion and a head ache. I bought mine from Inifiniti of Yorkville in TO. Had the car there, bought it the next day...

My 0.02 cents

elrooko - Wow, sorry to hear that. Thanks for sharing your story. This is what happens when a dealership has the monopoly on a region. This is why I'm so excited to hear that Tony Graham Nissan is gonna open an Infiniti division. I'm happy that everything worked out for you.

Re: Anyone Buy From 417 Infiniti in Ottawa??

More info on the loaner issue. 417 is supposed to provide a loaner, but they only have 5-6 cars. They say that Infiniti canada only provides them with that many, but infiniti doesn't have the same story. Bottom line is you can actually only have a loaner if you predict your problems well in advance. You need to book service several weeks ahead to obtain a loaner. Didn't get one when my brakes crapped out (don't get me going on that one again), or when I wanted to come back and have them reconnect the speakers that they disconnected when they did recall work on the stereo. My view is that we paid for the use of loaners in the price of our cars; they should be able to provide them. Not exactly easy to get back and forth to 417 since they are in the middle of nowhere. Looking forward to Tony Graham taking on the line; they are not far from me.

Re: Anyone Buy From 417 Infiniti in Ottawa??

I've heard Tony Graham is going to carry Infiniti as well, but not before 05...

But it is not just Infiniti... Acura, Audi, Porsche, and Mini all only have one dealership in Ottawa (Well, you can go across the river to Casino Acura) So barganing with a dealership with a monopoly is tougher
