Finally a carputer of my own!

I've been wanting a carputer for years, finally I found time, money and equipment that liked, so it was time to get working on it!

Computer: Acer AspireRevo AR3700-U3002*
Screen: Xenarc 700TSV
Power: CarNetix CNX-P1900
Audio: USA Spec PA15*

*Upgraded to 4GB or RAM and a 64GB SSD. I also have a 32GB SDHC card in it for music storage.
**I've connected the USA Spec PA15's auxiliary cable to a Bluetooth receiver. This way I can either stream audio from my phone or the carputer. I've been using the receiver with my phone for a long time now, and I can't tell the difference vs hardwired. If it presents any issues I will get a USB soundcard down the road.

Still work in progress

Very nice! I always wished I could have a carputer as well! Sure you will be very happy when it's completed! In for finished product.

I ran into a small issue it seems.

For some reason my keyfob will not lock/unlock my car after I turn off the engine until my carputer turns off. I have no idea what one has to do with the other. The only wires that are connected to the car are two to the battery, and one to the ignition wire in the steering column. All are used for the power supply for the carputer.

sweet install dude, as far as the wire you used from the ignition wire, you may want to consider using something else that is just switched, the car is still seeing the key "turned on" until the power is completely cut from the comp...

Hmm it's weird that it does that since the power supply doesn't feed back anything to the ignition wire. I will probably just going to put a switch on the ignition wire. This way I can have a kill switch on the carputer too if for some reason I don't want it to start when the car does.

Nice setup. Did you ever resolve the ignition wire issue?

try running ignition switch wire to one of your cigarette lighters. Ran into a similar issue a while back.
