i have an 07 sedan sport 6mt.... i was wwashing my baby the other day and accidently put chrome cleaner on the rims! it left the rims with some dark spots! i cant get it out i dont know what to do! should this even happen? should i complain to infiniti? i dont know what to do!

 

Um i would say that it is your fault...infiniti isnt going to do anything about it. UNless the wheels are chrome and you put chrome cleaner on it and it turned out wrong, but if the wheels are not chrome and you put chrome cleaner on it then...id say your SOL.

Complain to infiniti? Only thing you could complain about is that you made a mistake...Gotta make sure you use cleaners that are safe for the surface youre using them on, especially on the wheels!

 

OUch, sorry to hear that. Can you elaborate a little more on what happened and the effects? Pictures would help too. It may be fixable, just depends.

 

I say Infiniti screws you over on everything else, say you just washed the wheels and this happened. Defective paint/wheels!!!

Chrome cleaner should not hurt painted alloys unless you were using an acidic household chrome cleaner. Could you please tell us the name of the product, what happened, and provide some pictures? There is a good chance you can fix this.

 

yeah, infiniti wont do anything..but i might suggest getting new rims?

welll im going to take pics and post them up, but i noticed i put this chrome cleaner on it and it was in a red bottle , i removed it right away! i was like awww crap ... but i dont know why the finish would be screwed i just dont get it! rain has acid too , are they going to turn all black!?

Rain is not Neutral - it's PH is typically in the low to mid 6's, depending on where you live. Neutral (neither acid or base) is a perfect 7 on the PH scale.

 

My Oh five did the same I don't know which product it was or if it was dog ****. :P but they are stained up pretty good.

It does **** me off that a $600 wheels powder coat could be that delicate.

 

What he said. If they're powdercoated or painted they can be polished out most likely with an automotive paint polish. If they're polished rims, you can probably get it out with Mothers wheel polish and a Mini PowerBall.
