Freaking Birds
Freaking Birds
So this is probably a lost cause, but I have an assigned parking lot, and every single day, a cardinal poops on either side of my car as it perches on my rear-view mirrors. First, is there anything I can do to get rid of it (except killing it - but I am pretty sure that is the only option) and Second, can I apply anything to prevent lethal damage to my paint?
Anything Helps
Thanks,
Michael

I don't know about preventing the bird from crapping on your car, but to protect it put lots of thick carnuba paste wax will protect your paint until you get a chance to get the poo off.
Get him a female cardinal, then he won't have time to sit on your mirrors.....
She'll have him building nests.....
You could try putting a rubber snake on your dash for a couple of days....that may work, but you never know.....he seems pretty attached to your mirrors...

As much as I feel bad for you, you have it good compared to Fcarpio's turd problem...check out his thread from January...LMAO

Bird droppings can be very annoying and hazardous to the clear coat. Some droppings can eat through the clear coat in only a matter of minutes. Hopefully this is not the case for you. I haven't heard of a product that keeps the birds away. For some of the strongest protection in detailing you could use the Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze (HGSG). This is an extremely durable sealant that helps prevent damage from bird droppings. This product is a little hard to remove compared to many of the other high end detailing products. However it makes up for it with its stunning shine and long lasting protection. Klasse states that this may last up to 12 months, probably 6 - 9 months on a daily driver. I know some people who have similar situations have applied 2 - 3 coats of the HGSG to prevent damage.
