Re: Micro Fiber vs Cotton

I have used micro fiber, cotton and a chamois. I don't see much of a difference between the micro fiber and chamois when drying my car. I have the big blue micro fiber towel. Both seem to leave fine water spots on the car that will evaporate. Maybe final rinse with deionized water.

I have used the cotton towel for the inside and outsides of the windows, and drying the wheels. It seems to do a better job at getting rid of the waterspots on the windows and the "haze" on the inside of the windows. The best for windows is a sheet of newspaper. Only use this on glass. If you have tint, don't use newspaper.

Eticketride, I have been using De-i water for several years now, you can just about let it dry, any spots will wipe off!

Re: Micro Fiber vs Cotton

ABQ_G35,

I was at Costco this past weekend and I saw that they had 100% cotton towels/wash cloths, but they were Made in Pakistan. I'm 100% sure Zaino Bros. recommend towels made in the USA. I'm not sure if 100% cotton from Pakistan is really not 100% cotton, but the towels "felt" different than the ones at my house (not as soft). I got my towels and wash cloths from JCPenny during their white sale. I've purchased towels from them in the past, and once they get a little old, they become car wash towels, and the new towels go in the house.

Re: Micro Fiber vs Cotton

How do you get deionized water? Do you use bottled water or some attachment for the garden hose? Thanks.

Re: Micro Fiber vs Cotton

I buy it in the gallon bottles, (it's about $0.79 a gallon) then use a dedicated garden sprayer to rinse/wash the car, usually takes me around 4 gallons to wash the car. I clean the tires and wheels using the hose, then final rinse with the de-i! You can buy or lease a system that will de-ionize the water, but it's a bit cost prohibitive unless you are in a car wash business! Oh, if you use soap, I would recommend just using the de-i as a final rinse.

Yeah, a good quality one, and no, it doesn't take a lot longer than any other car wash, I have always taken longer, I am too finicky! LOL! Besides, the pumping is good exercise, LOL!

Re: Micro Fiber vs Cotton

I now recall that someone (maybe on this board or edmunds)mentioned the Mr. Clean car wash system. It has a deionizer attachment that goes onto the garden hose. Maybe it will work?? Check it out...

Re: Micro Fiber vs Cotton

I have thought about that, I'd just use the filtered water, probably not the soap, I may buy one and try using it on my house windows to see if it doesn't spot, the water here is really hard, leaves a white crust. I'm almost afraid to try it on my car first, LOL! I really doubt it de-ionizes the water, that is done with magnets or something.

Re: Micro Fiber vs Cotton

If you try out that nozzle from Mr. Clean, let us know how it works. The water here in San Diego is really hard too...

Cram-
Thanks for making my link into a link! I always forget how to do that. I know it is somewhere in this forum, but I can never find it. Thanks again!
