Ever since my dealer washed my car its full of swirls on the paint. I've been reading and planing on purchasing things to help me get rid of them and I finally did it today.

This is what I got for myself.

From http://www.detailedimage.com/

- 1 x 6.5" Black Finishing Pad

- 1 x 6.5" Orange Light Cutting Pad
- 1 x 6" Counter Weight
- 1 x Pad Kit #1

From http://www.amazon.com/

- Porter Cable 7424 - Porter Cable 7424

From http://www.autogeek.net/

- Pinnacle XMT Fine Swirl Remover #2
- Pinnacle XMT Intermediate Swirl Remover #3
- Pinnacle XMT Ultra Fine Swirl Remover #1
- Pinnacle XMT Carnauba Finishing Glaze
- Pinnacle XMT Pad Care Combo
- The Cobra Miracle Towel x 2
- 32 oz. Poorboy's EX Sealant with Carnauba

From http://www.zainostore.com

Z-7 Show Car Wash
Z-8 Grand Finale Spray Seal
Z-18 ClayBar

Total spend around 413 dollars. I did not expect to spend that much, but I think its worth it. I cannot wait until all of that stuff comes in and I make my car look better than ever.

P.S: Where can I get some touch up paint that will match without guessing?

imaxorz, thank you for your support, from the looks of things, you'll be very pleased with the results when you are finished.

For the touch up paint, have you tried going to your local dealership to get the exact match of your paint? It's usually a little more expensive than ordering online, but there's no guess work involved.

Let me know if there's anything else I can give you a hand with.

Thanks again for your recent order!

George

Looks like a good kit. Don't worry about the $400+ on your "initial" investment, its only the beginning! I started out around there, and also picked up the XMT line.

Don't forget to show us some pics! Good luck!

Good work on getting a PC and other supplies. Now that you have everything, I guarantee that you won't regret spending the money on it. Don't consider it a cost, because it's definitely a great investment!

Yeah thats how I see it too. It just cost a lot the first time. PC and pads were a huge part of the price.

Looks like everything will come in by Wednesday next week. So next weekend is when I'm going to make my car look better than when it was new.

I am doing a complete detail on my G tomorrow so I will post pics just to give you an idea of what you can expect. I haven't detailed my G in a couple of months now, and even though I am extremely careful with it, it still has a fair amount of swirl marks and spider webbing. It drives me crazy, but it is expected with the soft Nissan/Infiniti paint.

Most of my swirls came from dealer washing it. I can't stand it.

One day I went to the beach with my friends and on the way back I asked my friend to drive my car back because I wanted to see how it looks on the freeway. :-D And when I was next to him it looked super clean and nice, but when the sun hit it. Yiikes, all you can see is swirls. It made me so upset.

I spent the better part of 7 hours detailing my G today. Man, there is nothing like a freshly detailed car. I got all of the swirl marks removed today using an orange pad and Menzerna's 0106FF. I followed up with two layers of EX-P sealant and Zaino Z6. I am letting the sealants cure for 24 hours and then applying Natty Blue's Paste wax tomorrow.

On a side note, I went out for supper tonight with my wife. When we left the restaurant and headed to the car I noticed a small group of guys hanging out around my car.......which naturally made me a little nervous. The guys were going crazy over my car since it was shined up great. They noticed my small advertisements in my rear windows for my detailing business and asked me questions on my detailing prices. I gave them some business cards and left.

The moral of the story is that a detailed G looks damn hawt and helps business too.

imaxorz, you're gonna be ecstatic of the results when you put your PC to work.

Thats great. I can't wait to get to my G.

About your advertisement, I was actually wondering if I do something like that, if it will actually work. It would be great to make some cash on the side. And it looks like it worked for you.

Any reason why you didnt just get this?
Porter Cable (PC) 7424 Advanced Kit

Seems like it would of been a little cheaper to buy it as a package.

I hope you're gonna tell the dealer not to wash it next time. I've only had mine back to the dealer once for the 1st oil change and never dreamt that they'd wash it since I'd just washed it the night before and it was spotless. When the service advisor brought my keys back he said "It's almost ready - they're just giving it a quick rinse". Argh!!!

Of course when I got it back there was lots of water marks, but no swirls that I could detect at least. I may go back to doing my own oil changes like I've done with my previous vehicles, but if I do take it back to the dealer they won't be washing it afterward, even if I have to stand guard over it while it's in the shop!

^ Thats pretty much what happened to me. My car was clean and I didn't think they would wash it, and when I came to get it, they said the same thing "its almost done being washed"

And yeah it had tons of water spots too. Haha.
