ZAINO HELP!!!
ZAINO HELP!!!
Ugg...I'm so frustrated. I decided to do the "Zaino" thing last weekend and I'm not pleased with the results. Here is what I did:
I washed the car with blue Dawn soap using a microfiber mit. After I rinsed and dryed the car, it was COMPLETELY covered in hard water spots (we have well water). Obviously startled, I went into the clay bar routine (which is a huge pain). I thought that I had gotten all the spots out so I proceeded with the Z5/ZFX treatment. After two coats of this and a coat of Z2, the car looked shiny as hell.
A week later, under direct sunlight I'm seeing hard water spots again. I don't know if these are spots I missed or what but I can't seem to get rid of them by washing. Also, the car attracts dust like a magnet.
Before I throw all this Zaino stuff in the garbage, is there anyone out there that can help me save my car?!

Re: ZAINO HELP!!!
Is that the exact process you used? There were several things you did wrong and left out.
I've never used blue dawn, just the regular plain old dawn. But I don't think that is a major concern. After you wash with dawn, you don't need to dry your car. You just pop the nozzle off your hose and use that for a final rinse just letting the water ooze out of the hose trying to avoid splashing. There will be very little left over to dry.... but you don't need to dry it!!
Use a water/z-7 mix to lubricate the clay bar. Then after you clay bar... wash the car again! This time with z-7. Now you really dry the car. It's fine if there are left over water spots. Go over the entire car with Z6 detail spray. It will eliminate all your water spots.
Now its time for Z5/ZFX. After you buff off the dried Z5, hit up the car with Z6 detail spray again.
But now that you have noticeable spots after you have zaino'd... take a 100% cotton towel or high quality microfiber towl and give the water spots a rubbing with Z-6. They should come right out.

Afro...
I'm thinking about completely re-doing the process again from scratch. What do you think? Is there any harm in that? I want to ensure the best possible finish without any water spots and if that means taking the wax off then so be it...
Thoughts?

Re: ZAINO HELP!!!
Good suggestions from Fro. I concur. And if you want to start over no probs. When I dry, I always work from flat to verticle, sunny to shady, windward to leeward (out of the wind) surfaces. And the open hoze nozzle trick is a good suggestion prior, too. Remember though that after the Z5, Z6, You want to finish up with at least one, preferably 2 coats of Z2, Z6 (2 and 5 with ZFX if you're taking the afternoon). Z2 yields a noticeably higher gloss than Z5. And finally, remember with the Z5 to go in straight lines as per the instructions.

You don't need to start over from scratch. If you clayed the car properly, you can eliminate all of your blemishes with a nice rubbing of Z6.

Re: ZAINO HELP!!!
Yeah he might have to start over. He has two layers over the water spots. Z6 won't get to those spots.
I suggest you start over, but you don't need to clay again!

Re: ZAINO HELP!!!
Yeah, Zaino sucks. I'll give you my address and you can send it here so I can properly dispose of it for you (on my car that is).

You can't be upset with the Zaino for doing it's job. If you still have water spots after drying your car wipe over them with a cloth and bottled water.

I agree start over. Keep some bottled water handy to get rid of the waterspots after Dawn.

Re: ZAINO HELP!!!
If the water spots are under zaino you won't be able to remove it by jux using z6. You will need to remove the zaino layer then remove the water spots. Clay can also remove some water spots unless it has etched into your clear coat.
Re: ZAINO HELP!!!
The water spots could be from acid rain. When I received my car (brand new) it had acid rain spots on it. I'd recommend taking a small amount of straight vinegar and dabbing the corner of a 100% cotton towel into the vinegar. The vinegar should remove the zaino in the sections where the water spots are. Gently rub the area and attempt to remove the water spots. Try not to remove too much of the zaino, because there is ABSOLUTELY NO NEED TO. You spent several hours polishing your car, just remove the water spots and then reply the zaino to the whole car (just as you would if you removed it from the entire car). Now you will have 2 coats on the areas that had water spots and 4 coats on the areas that you didn't have the water spots. Don't forget to wash the car with zaino car wash before and after applying the vinegar.
Good Luck.
