alright so long story short i drank too much at a buddy's party
passed out on his couch and got a sharpie all over me

so now my arm rest(a lot of it) and some of my chair has blue sharpie on it since it rubbed
off of me and onto the leather.....does anyone know how to remove this??

and i've tried leather cleaner and no work....it slightly took it off where its sort of hazy now but still its clearly visible

 

Try either a magic eraser or hairspray.

 

this happened to me before when i had an rsx, i tried everything.

this really works, rubbing alcohol followed by leather cleaner/conditioner.

thank me later.

 

you need to dilute the alcohol first or it will remove some of the dye in the leather

 

HELPP!!!! leather got marked with permanent marker

Permanent Marker contains a (permanent) dye, so you have dyed the leather. Re-colour (dye) would be the only workable solution. If you use a strong cleaner you may remove (damage) the leather finish

 

What color is your leather?

 

I used to work at lenscrafters and we would mark the glasses with perm marker during manufacturing. We removed the marks with alcohol afterwards. Definitely dilute it first and dab at it with a q-tip.

 

+1 rubbing alcohol will remove most of the marker but it will also lighten the leather.

You need to redye the leather.

 

I would strongly advise against the magic eraser. I took that suggestion way back from some other members on here for stubborn dirt on my seats and I ended up removing the dye in some of my seat (after 2 light passes)...

 

magic eraser belongs in your kitchen sinks and stove tops.

not on cars.

 

in most instances you can remove permanent marker (such as Sharpie) by running over the same mark with ERASABLE marker (such as Expo2), waiting for the ERASABLE marker to dry, then wiping it off as normal... this works for white boards, table tops, even monitor screens... haven't tried leather yet though... you may want to test it in a hidden area to make sure it wipes off clean... if it does, try it, it can't get much worse =]

please let me know your results, I've successfully used this method to cleanly rid one of my client's laptop screens of permanent sharpie red-ink... I've also removed some sketchdoodle bleed-thru from one of my countertops....
