You're car doesn't have a carburetor, so the next time someone tries to use carburetor cleaner on it, shoot them.

The inside of the headlight has some sort of film/coating on it. You're not going to get it completely clean, EVER. I used all kinds of chemicals/polish/PlastX, nothing worked. There's no going back.
^I don't think so. I've seen headlights that were frosted and pitted and everything else brought back. They had to be sanded down a lot though. Still, they came out looking new.
To say "there's no going back" is a bit far I think. Can't hurt to try.

ok so i tried it the rubbing compound i tried sanding it i even bought the macguires one with the drill attachment. none of it worked. now i just gave it to him and hes tryin everything he can find from bleach to windex lol. i found a guy in manhatten who has two damaged healights for my car but the cover look brand new. im gonna bake them open them up and just use that cover instead. my car is in peices outside. but atleast my grille and headlights look amazing...minus the messed up cover. lol pix wen im done. =]
I know, I cought the bit about the film/coating. I'm guessing the coating on the inside is probably some kind of UV protectant, IDK. But my point is, if the plastX doesn't work then he can sand it down from the inside, that would completely eliminate any film on the inside, then sand with a higher grit, even higher grit, cutting polish, etc... In other words, if you completely refinish the inside of the lens in the same way you would badly frosted/tarnished/pitted outside, a film/coating won't matter.

How much did you sand the inside? What grit? etc

i used 120 grit 200 grit an 600 grit. none of it worked. i even had the turtle wax restoration kit which has a rubbing compound and a lubricant in it with small pads of sandpaper in it and that didnt work either. it looks like its just all fogged up
Ok... 120 was way to low to start and 600 wasn't nearly high enough to finish with. Do a quick search on the forum for restroing headlights or something like that, there's a really good thread that shows how. I still think they can be saved.
BTW, what year is your G?
