switching wax's
hi - i picked up some nxt wax to give it a shot, im wondernig now...should i was the car with detergent soap before to clear my old wax? i had heard of someone doing this recently to strip off old wax and chemicals - or could i go about a regular wash and apply new wax?
For NXT, I would...wash with DAWN to remove old waxes and you should be fine. NXT also contains cleaners which will remove previous wax/layers of product. The Dawn wash in combination with NXT cleaners will leave a fresh surface.

Dawn will strip the old wax but I don't recommend using it. With prolonged usage you will strip vital oils from the paint and dry out other trim pieces on the car. I prefer to wash with a shampoo that has conditioners (Menzerna Auto Shampoo, Poorboy's World Super Slick and Suds, P21S Shampoo, etc.) These conditioners help lubricate the surface for safe removal of contamination. This will remove some old wax by washing away loose and dead layers. If you want all of the old wax off I recommend using a chemical polish like the P21S Paintwork Cleanser, Klasse AIO, Poorboy's World Pro Polish. Or you can clay bar the surface to help remove surface contamination and old wax. Then you can apply your NXT after to a very clean surface.
Typically, I would remove the old wax first. I usually do a 50/50 alcohol wipe down prior to making any drastic change in waxes. What wax are you using now?
As a side note, the NXT WILL stain your plastic trim and seals. Pay special attention not to get it on these areas while working. Other than that - take your time and you will get good results.

Yup, Espresso is correct. NXT wax is awesome but it's not good for people who are lazy
. If you re-wax your car every month, then NXT is fine for you. But if you don't, you must as well go with Zaino as it lasts much longer.
