to wax or not to wax

just got thinking of this today.
I haven't waxed ny g35 yet, 6000km and 9 months of pacific coast driving, our Winters are pretty mild here in Vancouver with some rainfall...
Just wondering? How many of you guys wax your cars and how often?
I was just thinking of grabbing some Z2 and doing it that way I don't have to think about it anymore, but I have heard some stories of people saying that waxing cars with clearcoats is a complete waste of time, especially my colour (brilliant silver)...
Any comments?

You haven't waxed it yet?????

wow, GET TO WAXING!!!

Whoever said waxing was a waste of time should get their **** kicked! thats total BS, especially on silver... Silvers are proned to oxidation and should be waxed regularly to protect them from the suns rays.

I might be a bit overkill but I wax at least once a month if not a bit more. I like keeping my car nice, protected and clean looking.

I use NXT and P21S and I LOVE both of those products... I can wax my whole car in about an hour and I love the results, it is time well worth spending.

My G is garaged at home and at work. I try to wax it at least once every other month, if not more often. That's after 2-3 apps of Klasse AIO and 2-3 apps of Klasse SG, which holds up to some 6 to 8 months.

It sounds like people either just don't care or really do it religiously...

what ever happened to overwaxing... doesn't it have wax build up or something? Or is that old school thought?

I would wax it regularly, but probably on a quartly basis or semi-annual basis when newer.

hey mike, i'm in vancouver as well, what kinda silver coupe you have?
my car has 5000km, and i've waxed once at around 2000km. I do it about 2-3 times a year, but i garage my car all the time.
Have been using Meguires from Canadiantire, great product.

An autobody mechanic once told me that a good paint job should never need waxing....what total BS!!..I would at least wax once a year with a good cleaner wax. I personally do it about every two months and I have had great results. Although, thats about the time with I get pissed off at the road chips that are on the bumper and hood. I can't win. Damned 18 wheelers.

There is no such thing as over-waxing - most wax will clean off previous layers or you will just get diminishing results. It's wasteful of product to wax more than once every couple months, though.

As for "should I wax?". Yes.

Oh, and fyi - all cars have clearcoats (except for a select few), the whole "you don't need to wax a car with a clearcoat" is absolutely trash. Also, Zaino isn't wax, it's a sealant. Same premise, different products.

Talking Wax

I wax at least every 6 months. My car is garaged and I do not drive it in the rain.
