Thumbs down Got A problem.....Supercharger internals went tonight

Had a long night tonight...drove over to the wednesday night meet and went out with a couple of the cars down George Bush Service road..took one good hit on the car and the supercharger went out..the internals are not spinning...

Wanted to know if anyone knows of a good place around here for supercharger and turbo rebuilds....if not I am planning on dropping the car off at Matchless with Cameron and have him go ahead and install all my other parts and send the Procharger off to ATI to be re-built...

anyhow thought i would share how exciting of a night this was....Let me know your thoughts everyone...

Damn Chris

How do you know the internals are not spinning? Does the car not build boost? The ATI is a sealed unit...did you open up the oil fill hole to look inside? What kind of sounds does it make? Belts all look okay?

Belts look fine...they are both still rotating...when i rev up the engine the blow-off valve doesnt make any noises....its a loud whining sound...sort of a high pitch whistle....

Sorry to hear. I'm with Will on this, make sure it's not something simple too, like a vaccum leak maybe? Sorry I don't know too much on FI, but I'm assuming you noticed a HUGE power loss. I'm going to go with checking all the seals first and make sure you make sufficient vaccum pressure. Good luck man!

Like I told you in the previous thread, it may just be a blown off coupler. If the supercharger is making all the "normal" noises it makes, I don't think the internals of it took a big dump. There really aren't many internals anyway...just some gears and an impeller blade. If they did go poop, you'd hear them crunching around in there and it'd probably seize up.

It would be hard for a supercharger's internals to just "go" like that. I would check your pressure release system aka your BOV. Welcome to the world of FI. I assume there is no smoke coming out the back?

give me some ideas what to look for regarding the BOV? I am going to look over all the couplings tonight.

Is there any boost being built....that is a question that would help us all out in answering your question. If it is a pressure problem and no boost is being built. Your BOV could be stuck open or open all the time and not building any pressure because it is just releasing through the BOV opening. That could come from a number of issues. Vaccuum line issues, bad BOV all together, couplings......lots of things. If the supercharger is still working properly, then it is pressurizing the air as it should.....the pressurized air would have to find it's way out of the system before the cylinders in some way.
