Venting out: $800+ for 30K service

It is not news to any of the veterans but the cost of 30K service for an 06 coupe is ridiculously high. I was quoted north of $800 for the full set of procedures scheduled for 30K miles. I know it is important to have fluids replaced but this is too expensive, I think.

How much would it be at a decent shop? Can I fit in $200 with parts in labor?

What items were detailed in the price quote you got? Any DIY'er should be able to handle it for a fraction of the cost.

It was not a detailed quote. Asked for a ballpark figure and he gave me this estimate for a full-blown service including tax. He also said that I can pick and choose from the manufacturer-recommended list.

800 is just plain absurd. go buy the fluids, filters on your own and go to a reputable shop. You should be able to get everything done for less than half that.

You can order a 30k mile service "kit" from Riverside Infiniti (they are on here and Ebay) for around $120. I think you would still need the oil, but other fluids and all filters are included. A competent shop would probably charge $150-200 for the labor, or it would be 4-6 hours for you to do on your own.

I have personally paid Sewell for the 30k service on my G35, and it actually came out close to $1000. I also had the differential fluid, and a few other things done. I am not sure that I can swallow that pill again. I do most of the mod work on my car, and usually leave regular maintenance to the dealer for warranty reasons (I don't want any issues, and it seems like there is always some minor issues I need fixed anyway). I am not sure I will do it again....

Here is an Ebay link for the service kit:

Thank you guys for suggestions. I think I will cancel my appointment with the dealer, buy all parts/fluids, and find a shop to perform the service.

Any suggestions from DFW locals on a decent shop in North Dallas/Richardson/Plano area?

Exclamation

Im in Carrollton - PM me if you need some local help. I can knock it out for you.. Since you have a 5AT...no clutch adjusting.. Should be quite simple. ONLY THING YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER is they keep a record of this service, so with that being sed, EVEN though its getting done, its TECHNICALLY not in the "infiniti" system. So just keep reciepts and keep a record of what all was done.

Here is whats "RECOMMENDED" at 30K service..

Procedures Included:
  • Adjust clutch, if applicable
  • Adjust idle speed
  • Cooling system flush
  • Adjust rear brakes, if needed
  • Rotate and balance tires/wheels
  • Lubricate all doors, locks & hinges
  • Lubricate chassis
  • Service battery
  • Replace air filter
  • Change engine oil and filter
  • Replace front wiper inserts
  • In-cabin microfilter install/replace
Additional Services Included:
  • Inspect & adjust tire pressures
  • Inspect chassis & suspension
  • Check air conditioner operation
  • Inspect all lights
  • Inspect & top off all fluid levels
  • Inspect & adjust all belts
  • Inspect exhaust system
  • Inspect & adjust emissions, if needed
  • Check plug wires, cap & rotor
  • Inspect cooling system
  • Inspect front & rear brakes

Cheers..

Brakes Plus seems to do a good job here in frisco but I have only let them do an alignment on my car. They do everything under the sun when it comes to service. Paid a little under 800 at crest btw for my 30000 on my 2005 g.

LMAO...those quotes make me want to either cry or go on a rampage. the price of these cars should more than warrant at least a DISCOUNTED service cost. geez..

i second what the others have said. buy the fluids/parts and do it yourself. anything that you can't do can easily be done by a shop for a fraction of a fraction of that cost.

Damn, I'm nearing that 30,000 mile mark. Can anyone point me in a direction of a shop in the Fort Worth area?

Good post. I just hit 60K myself. Are there some additional items that need checking/replacing? Or do you have a similar list?
