Hey r1forever80..that's true..this will be the most involved disassembly of a dash to replace a radio of all the cars I've owned! I'm assuming you have done this multiple times before? Are you interested in doing it? I think it will be necessary to drill new holes on the stereo bracket, right? The Metra harness will prevent having to solder wires? And I'm interested in using the steering wheel to control the radio. Anyway, if you are up for it, I can start ordering the goods .. thanks!!!

I definitely recommend you go with the OEM...a bit pricier since you have to get the DD kit and the A/C controller but it's just so much better looking imho....just not fond of the cheap look on the metra kit...to me...if you're spending the money on a DD unit might as well make it look nice...hope you find a good deal on your stereo...best wishes homie.
Don't forget to buy the APAC adapter to have some controls on your steering wheel if you want some functions on it.

Thanks JD_ for the advice! I agree with making it look nice by going with OEM. I've seen some Metra and it's not to my taste. If only the harness on the A/C unit controller was longer, the OEM can be reused so save some money. Anyway...been using my phone to listen to music via tape function

I installed both the Metra & the JDM kits in my ride, so here's some pictures for comparison. I honestly believe that if done professionally the metra kit will achieve an acceptable look in comparison to the OEM JDM piece. It's just what your preference is (also whatever your wallet allows) The only gap I saw on the Metra kit was at the top by the controls due to me retaining the factory navigation (Which was not an option in the instructions but I got it to work with a little manipulation )

JD..haha..yes that would be pimping indeed!! It's like free satellite radio.
ninja1..thanks for sharing the pictures. Metra does not look too bad but the JDM is definitely better - from looks to retaining everything OEM. What is the price difference? OEM is about $290 + tax.
Maybe I should just make it simple and go with JD's advice and maximize my tape function!
