We're gonna be there for sure, but not sure if we're gonna run tho, still needs to get my bushing installed, and i need to change wheels but i lost my lug nut key, coz im still running with my heavy work t1s

He has an exhaust? What kind? I may be mistaken, but I don't remember seeing it and I remember him asking me about getting one or maybe even buying your Fuji. If I overlooked that, that's my bust. As for the z-tube, I don't really consider that a power mod at all. See you next Friday!

There is no comparison between the Revup and DE. I've owned both for more than a year with mods and I know for a fact how potent the Revup is around 5k RPMs and how it responds to mods.

I said this before but people didn't believe me. I can pull on a 335i automatic and 535i sedan even with a scorched valve train and some shot up spark plugs/coils. I never did come across an MT 335i

A lot of questions could have been answered by simply giving the timeslips for the run in question. Videos from inside the car are pretty much meaningless. We really need to see reaction time, 60', ET and MPH. Also, neither of these cars are stock. It's not a level playing field. Big wide rims kill 1/4 mile acceleration, period.

As for the Rev-up, it has advantages and disadvantages. Yes, it can rev fractionally higher, but when dynos are overlayed, you see that the motor only carries power about 400rpms longer. Also, it gives up 10whp/10whq below 5000rpms. That hurts initial acceleration. If you do an average HP calculation across the useable powerband, you'll see that the average HP between the Rev-Up and DE are essentially equal. The biggest disadvantage of the Rev-Up is it's oil consumption issues. It plagues over 20% of the cars and that's pretty serious, IMO. As for gains from mods and potential, I think the Rev-Up is a better choice, but it's only going to have a 5 to 10whp advantage over the DE. Is it worth the OC risk?

I don't know if this makes sense, but anything below the 5k RPMs is where the revup loses over the non-revup, right? This is just my assumption and thought, so please, i'm just putting my reasoning on to this. While the non-revup has more torque in the in the lower RPM range, the revup would still be waiting for 5k for that slight increase in HP? The question is, would that 18hp increase be enough to be introduce after 5k? or would it be too late in which the non-revup had enough low end torque and power earlier in the powerband? As we know that the revup has the variable valve timing somewhat similar to VTEC that only works well for lighter cars in which the G35 isn't. Looks like I'm still leaning towards my earlier post in how the performance between these two are similar and just a see-saw effect.

Yes, you're on to something. As I said in my last post, average power across the powerband is what is important. A 500whp/400wtq Supra twin turbo with a solid powerband from 4500rpms to 7200rpms will almost always win in a drag race against a Supra single turbo making 650whp/450wtq and whose power doesn't come online until 5500rpms and makes squat for power under 4500rpms. Peak HP is what sells cars, average HP (assuming all other variables are equal) is what wins races. The RevUp motor, for the most part, was simpy a way to gain some quick HP to sell some cars until the HR was sent into production. In order to get the Revup to breath, the intake runners were shortened which killed some power in the low and midrange. In 1st gear, this makes for a slower accelerating car and in a drag race, that 0-40mph acceleration is paramount. In a road race, it isn't as important as long as the rpms don't fall below 5000rpms or so. A gain of 15whp from 6300 to 6800rpms won't have near the influence on 1/4 mile acceleration because you spend so little time accelerating in that range. However, a 10whp power loss below 5000rpms will have a rather significant effect, especially in the 330' range.

Yea, just wondering if it's a complete motor, ECU, etc. change? Or what else is involved?

It's not just hp that is different. It's also throttle response that is better. Control of the cams is also beneficial when it comes to tuning and high hp.

There is a lot of discussion going on at my350z about it and I had it bookmarked and lost it.

Here is a quick search on it.
Since the rev-up has VVT on both the intake and exhaust, there is better opportunity to adjust the lobe separation angle to get optimum performance at any particular rpm.
