2005 G35X AWD back at the track, no so good.

https://g35driver.com/forums/drag/28...1-stock-x.html

14.839 was my stock best with 18's on

I had the week off and found out Great Lakes Drag in WI has $20 tuesday night for street tires.

I figure great time to see what my new mods would do. It was HOT tho. I think 85-90degree the whole day. If i did it correctly the DA was 2300ft. Not expect smashing records.

I got more seat time about 13 runs. But i feel i suck.

50k on the car.
2005 G35x AWD
5/16 Copper ISO Thermal.
thats about it, but i do have a Z-Tube and coupe Mid (they aren't HP adder, just noise)

stock tires 50% tread, 215/55/17
back lower cushion, everything in the trunk removed. 1/4 of gas.
VDC off and MM shifting at 6500. brake torque near 2000rpm, 2500rpm will just spinning tires.

I did 13 runs all together, worst slip was

60' 2.339
330 6.597
1/8 9.986
MPH 72.90
1000 12.878
1/4 15.291
MPH 94.18

left it in auto. I had 7 runs in 15's

Here are the best, it was middle of the night.
6:43PM

60' 1.745
330 5.934
1/8 9.288
MPH 74.26
1000 12.165
1/4 14.563
MPH 93.41

----------------------
60' 2.066
330 6.195
1/8 9.524
MPH 74.53
1000 12.391
1/4 14.787
MPH 93.59
-------------------------
60' 2.120
330 6.240
1/8 9.557
MPH 74.80
1000 12.417
1/4 14.805
MPH 93.74
----------------------
60' 2.226
330 6.345
1/8 9.661
MPH 74.90
1000 12.517
1/4 14.903
MPH 93.85
------------------
60' 2.274
330 6.398
1/8 9.707
MPH 75.07
1000 12.556
1/4 14.935
MPH 94.25
---------------------
60' 2.259
330 6.393
1/8 9.714
MPH 74.78
1000 12.576
1/4 14.964
MPH 93.81

ok so obviously i've noticed the lower the 60' the better the time in. I have no clue how i cut a 1.745 and am very shocked. I dont know if its an error since i cant for the life of me do it again. I know my 1~2 suck as most of the times i'm bouncing off the rev limiter, but that shouldn't bother my 60' time.

How do i improve my 60' ? Right now my goal is to run 13.999 or better but remain a completely reliable DD car and in pretty much street form so no slicks but maybe stickier tires. But here is the kicker that i dont understand, i dont spin tires, my car just goes thanks to AWD so how can this be a problem.

What do you guys think..... 14.839@ 96 stock to 14.563@93 with a 5/16 spacer, it was a different track

IS-F was there ran about 13.3 all night.
Scion tC 16.5 all night.
new Si Coupe ran 14.2's
WRX wagon hit 12's
all SRT8 things ran 13.8's

Better than my 14.8 with RWD, all the pipes, muffler, 5/16th spacer, intake, z tube. Thats the best i could achieve up in Eau Claire WI.

i was almost going to go that night but it was way too hot! Considering the DA you ran good times i'd say. That sub 2.0 60' is insane...could be an error but your ET was good.

The best time I've ever ran at that track was 14.500@96, 2.15 60' but the DA was -197. And im a stock 5AT RWD with a Z-tube, and lowered on Z/G springs. I just lower the rear tire pressure a little and brake torqued right before the tree fell and shifted in MM. Track prep is not very good at GLD, and it seems like the discounted nights they do no prep whatsoever. Have you ran your car at Byron yet?

If I had to guess.............the 1.75 60' you lined the rear wheels up on the timing box. Toss that run out. At the very least it is a timing error.

60' 2.066
330 6.195
1/8 9.524
MPH 74.53
1000 12.391
1/4 14.787
MPH 93.59
^This is your best run. If you look at the intervals you were quicker than the run with the timing error (gaining time/mph over the initial ~.32 timing error).

You have no mods on that car other then 5/16 spacer... be real about things. My coupe mid and Z tube are just noise makers. My car has a stock HR like pipe so no need for that. in a sense you can i have just the same stuff as you minus the overpriced HKS noise maker. but i remember you had a heavy trunk.

There are a lot of toy mods that everyone here believes in but the only acutal go fast mods that no one can doubt at this point is the 5/16 spacer, some type of HFC/TP and a tune. well MREV if your a rev-up. Other stuff people tell you it works and etc but its all subjective like grounding wires, Z tube, axleback. I'll still wondering about the stillen sedan catback...

my first runs with 14.83@96 was at byron. I went to great lakes mainly cause of the $20 runs. Yea i think the is no track prep, the first 3 runs i had on the left lane it felt slippery as if i was flying... but no tire spins.

I feel that 1.7 is an error. Made me happy to see 14.5 and then i saw 1.7 and i knew it was wrong.

i'm looking at Test pipes/ HFC right now and hopefully go back in sept.

people tell me "oh you should factor in the DA and that is your real time" yea it might be true but i walked away with a 14.78 @ 93 slip, i did the DA it was 2619 ft, told me i SHOULD of had

Stock and Mildly Modified Naturally Aspirated Engines
14.328 @ 96.657 MPH

but to me its still 14.78

I don't put any stock in corrected times......just wait for late fall and run again. A 14.3 shouldn't be overly difficult on a cold, dry fall day though.

i'll most likely go back in sept.

question about the wheels...

215/55/17 on stock wheels 17x7 all around.

245/45/18 on 18x8.5 (350z track rear track wheels all around) which is the lighter setup that will give me the quicker run?

Weight wise they should be roughly the same. rays are about 18-20lbs rims, the 245 will be about 1-3lbs more each corner. Stock rim should be about 20lbs.
