Trany oil change/gears problem

Recently I changed the trany's oil and I realized that is hard to put in or pull out the 1st to 2nd gear in the morning when you about to drive the car. But it turns normal after 10 miles of driving in the morning. I hardly have any 1st to 2nd gear grinding or problem but this is my first time experiencing the problem so I want to see if anyone knows or had a same problem. I also realized that weather is very cold in the morning and i am not sure if it has to do with the weather.

yeah man, i experience the same thing. especially when it's cold! i don't think it has anything to do with tranny fluid (maybe, most likely not). what i do is, i warm up the car roughly 2-3 mins. or when the temp goes up at least one bar, when doing so, shifting becomes a lot smoother.

didnt realize you change your tranny fluid, i over-looked it. want to make sure they put enough fluid in? might be the problem.

I had my dealer change my MT fluid, and for the first week I noticed a slight improvement in notchiness, but when cold in the morning, I too noticed going into second is worse than before. It even grinded on me once or twice. I'll ask my dealer to check the level next time I'm there.

Please let us know what dealer say, because this is very weird.

I think I will take my car in soon and I will leave it over night and have dealer to test drive in the cold morning. Because it only happen in the cold morning.

Got the loaner line up for next Monday night before 7pm. I will let you guys know what happen. I put in a note for the tech guy, only to test drive in the morning when they open. Because i don't want to give dealer the excuse to said can't duplicate the problem. (if they test drive the car in the afternoon).

What gear oil are you guys using in your gearboxes when you're changing it?

Every thread I've read about our 6-speed transmissions says that a lot of people have had trouble when they change to something other than the OEM fluid. Some poeple have had success in mixing two different weight gear oils together to get the proper weight/viscocity that matches OEM spec, but I don't think 3rd party lubricant manufacturer sells the exact right weight/viscocity out the door without you mixing them.

got my fluids changed at Firestone, I had my anti fluid flush, trany fluid replace, diff fluid replace and oil change.

Did you use Nissan Tranny fluid? If not, dealer wil give you problems

I don't know why dealer will use that as reason, I can just tell them that i didn't do any replacement yet. They will need to give me something better because i am pretty much know how dealer works now. I will keep this up to date. I am sure there are few out there have this problem.

Have this same issue. I only have 233 miles on my G. When its really cold in the morning the shifter sticks putting it into 1st. Once the car warms up the problem goes away.

okay guys, I just got the call from the dealer. Dealer said the tech felt the same thing in the morning and they said they aren't sure if is the trany or the clutch problem but they want to advise me that if they do the tear down on clutch and tranny then i will have to pay for $1000 just for the labor if the problem is not my trany and another $1700 for parts for the clutch plus putting everything back. What do you guys think and what my options are?
