im 18. (dont bother hating on me because you think im young, as im sure some people will) I bought it from a friend, and paid a very good price. if i paid regular price, i most probably would not have been able to afford it. that said, i did pay for it with my money, but i got it when i was still 17 so by law my mom had to buy it.
and i **** my mom off too much and i may not have any left

AT and if I had it to do over again, I'd get a 6MT. At the time I was commuting between Lauderdale and Miami every day (26 mi) and it was a 90 minute drive. Before I got the G35 I had a MT and it was 1st gear 2nd gear for the 75mins I was sitting in traffic.

The problem is that the majority of cars in the US are automatic, so a manual car is a bit 'different'. It's the other way round where I'm from. rarely see an automatic, and MOST cars are stick shifts. That's why I find your manual transmissin banter highly amusing. My little nan drives a stick shift, as do most folks I know back home. She must be a 'wikkid' drives if she knows stick!

Actually with advanced auto tech, autos are just as fast if not faster than their mt counterparts. ie.. Porsche's dual clutch auto is putting down better performance numbers than their manual versions.

And another thing, it's more difficult to generate boost on the line with a MT. With an auto you just brake and gas at the same time Brake boosting ftw.

I do miss having a manual sometimes, but I like my 5AT, too. It makes my commute so much easier. Not to mention, as many people have already said, the whole Manuals are way faster and respond better than automatics argument, is a thing of the past. Even the G's can get a minor tweak to the shifter, and the autos will perform as quickly as the manuals. I can't even count how many 6MT Coupe drivers I've pissed off when they realize, not only did they just get smoked by a Sedan, but an automatic one at that.

Also, just a little extra info - the fastest street legal Corvette ever recorded was an automatic. No one could make a manual strong enough to handle it's power and torque. Not to mention that most people who do serious drag racing have some variant of an automatic. You rarely see clutches on the muscle cars that run the strips.

Umm.. The g/z. Auto slushbox is not even close to a dsg or a gtr transmission-u can't compare the two. Triptronic is slow as sh@t, I don't care how many clutch pack/vb upgrades you do. On our cars, the m/t can shift much faster (with a capable driver) than an auto. The mt will also give more control to the driver. Sorry at owners, vq35 m/t ftw!

I drove a 08 G35 sedan auto. The shifting is worlds better than the older autos. Can't imagine how the new 7sp auto is going to be.

But you are correct, it's difficult if not impossible to get a torque convertor based auto to shift like a dual clutch type auto (DSG type).

I love my 6mt even in traffic. Helps with the boredom while waiting for cars to move. Def no other way.
