Question about Transmission noise?

I just got my car back and they replaced the transmission on the car (6mt) Can anyone tell me when your car is at idle with the clutch not engaged does it make a rattling noise? and then when the clutch is pushed in does it go away? any information that you guys can provide mw with would bw great, oh and that noise is why the dealership replaced my transmission in the first place, just wondering if that is normal? Thanks again

Re: Question about Transmission noise?

I've heard it is normal.

Although many people have posted in the past with complaints about overly-noisy transmissions.

Mine is noticable, but not loud.

I had an '05 6mt, and now an '06 6mt. both rattle like crazy with clutch out in neutral. Both also make a lot of noise between gears during high rpm shifts.

On the '05 I always suspected something was wrong with it, but the '06 is exactly the same.

It appears to be normal. My old 300zx made similar noises, but it had 198K on it when I sold it. I figured it was just worn out.

the noise you're hearing in neutral is the throwout bearing and is completely normal but yes very annoying.......
