Transmission Flush Shocker
Ok, It's time for my 60k service and rather than paying a grand at LKN Infiniti, I'm gonna do most of the work myself. I'm going to get the full trans flush rather than simply changing it out.
I called around to get a few price quotes, and I was shocked at what I found out. I've always heard that the Nissan dealership does cheaper work, but I had no idea.
I called Nissan first, $139.00 for the flush.
Then I called a local garage, $150.00 for the flush.
Then I called the Infiniti dealership which is only about 2 miles from the Nissan dealership, $359.00!!!
I was just shocked. I expected it to be higher, but not over 2.5 times higher. Anyway, I thought I'd post this up for anyone else looking to get a transmission flush. Nissan is providing the exact same service, just under a different name. Now I can really see why everyone refers to them as "stealerships".

Im doing this right now for my 30k only im having people I trust do this flush for me so im not sure how much ill pay exactly but im sure its no where near 359. or even 139. Maybe since im doing radiator tranny diff fluid and oil change i might come out to about 100 bucks labor.

Also, they are going to turn my rotors for $10 each matching a local parts house!
They can do everything Infiniti does, except for warranty work.
However, I try to do most stuff myself.

I thought you were going to say you found a dead rat or something while doing the flush... I'll def keep this in mind, and it works out better for me since I live closer to the Nissan dealership than the infiniti one.

I thought the tranny only needs 4 quarts...

^^^ yeah, did it yesterday to the gf's focus, dropped the pan changed the filter and added 5 quarts, takes 7 overall so got most of it out. Cost $37 including filter and oil.
I believe the 5AT holds about 9.8 QTs of fluid. Seeing that J-Matic costs about $8 to $10 QT, I have a hard time believing a "flush" is going to cost $139-150.
The Nissan and Infiniti dealer in Kansas City recommend tranny fluid changes every 30K. That means they drain the tranny only which gets you about 3.1 QTs.

not having a torque converter FTMFW
i just looked up the service manual for the 04 G35 sedan. AT fluid capacity is 10 7/8 quarts. If you simply just do a drain\refill like i did, it comes out to about 3.5 to 4 quarts.
i bought the J matic fluid at Nissan dealer for around $10 a quart. I agree with DaveB. A flush supposedly replaces most\all fluid from your transmission, i have a hard time believing they only charge $139 for J matic fluid. so the math is around 11 quarts times $10 a quart comes out to $110. So they only charge you roughly $30 for labor? granted that their cost for the fluid is no where near $10 a quart that they sell you. It still too cheap to be true.
i think you should ask exactly how they "flush" your transmission. Since Nissan has many type of transmission fluids over the years for various model, do they have a dedicate flush machine for J Matic only? i highly doubt it. Personally, I won't do a flush since you don't know if they would use J Matic or if they use a flush machine which was servicing another car with different transmission fluid and now it's mixed in with your J Matic fluid.

Not having syncro problems the dealership won't fix FTMFW

Not having a tranny that's on it's 8th redesign to fix reliability issues FTMFW
Not having a dual-mass flywheel that techically can't be resurfaced FTMFW
Not having to replace a clutch after 30K miles of drag racing FTMFW
Not having cement mixer sounds come from the tranny FTMFW
