My problem went away when I changed my transmission. It shouldn't cost much. I had a transmission from the junkyard for $500

He hasn't logged on here in over 2 1/2 years so I doubt you're going to get an answer.

2005 G35 Coupe loaded but bone stock!
Check your engine codes, this is probably the common Front brake solenoid in the valve body gone bad, or the circuit is cracked., code P1757. There are several great youtube vids that show how to diagnose and fix it, it's common on this transmission in Nissans and the occasional g35. The car locks into limp mode and will not come out of 4th gear for anything.

On mine, sometimes it will drive and shift ok for a bit then lock out. I can sometimes get around it by manually shifting it but it will always eventually lock into 4th.

I just bought a 05 G35 coupe with this issue too for an insanely low price. Should be an easy fix, at worst it needs a new valve body.

I fixed mine, hopefully the other guy did. Made a thread on the whole process https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...3&goto=newpost

The manumatic float shifts, changes the display of the gear, but no change otherwise. Park, reverse, and neutral are fine, but as soon as you put in drive, there's a large "thunk" in the back and the car sounds almost like the exhaust is gone when driven below 40 mph. I would appreciate a picture of the relays and location, what you replaced, and the name of the specific relay. Please help!
Mine just started doing this exact same thing. The codes read "Foward Brake Syoloid". When I went to get diagnosed they said they would need to change the transmission and wanted $3500 for the service. What did y'all do to fix it? And please say it was cheaper than that. I'm thinking of getting a buddy of mine who's a mechanic to just get a transmission from the local pick and pull to see if that works.

Why not just change out the $20 front brake solenoid instead of replacing the entire transmission?

If your cam sensor goes out would you replace the entire engine?

Mine was just a blue fuse hidden behind the passenger kickboard trim(to the bottomleft of the passenger door if viewed sitting in the passenger seat). Ended up getting wet due to the rubber grommet protecting water from going past the firewall into the car not being placed in properly by the previous owner. So probably not your problem unless u had water intrusion issues.

You could probably do it at home yourself and save some money.. drop the trans oil pan remove the circuit board, replace the solenoid and check the board for any damage, replace that if need be or re-solder any bad connections. Sounds like the shop doesn’t know wtf they’re up against so they’d rather sell you a whole *** trans to avoid complications. You could also take it to a trans specialist shop and your car would probably be better off. If you wanna DIY you can look up the procedure… there’s this which might be helpful:

Scan the car and see if it's throwing any diagnostic codes.

do you know the reason it stuck on 4th gear because I put new valve body , all the solenoids and the speed sensor that’s located inside the transmission. And I don’t have any codes. But the problem still the same ! Can you help !? Or any idea what could be wrong. Thank u
