ok so I'm using a 30mm socket but how the hell have you guys gotten off the pinion nut....the damn flange just keeps spinning......another question....i think I might have messed up by already switching the diff fluid...will this fluid come out with the flange removed? thanks in advance

This sucks...
ok well i started work on my diff switch and it's a m****r f****r....if you are going to do this then make SURE that you have deep well sockets....even on the sway bar nut I'm stuck until my wife comes back with the other car....in addition to that I have a Stillen cat-back exhaust which is another pain in the ***....it's twin pipes are directly under my diff....well it's going to sit how it is until I can get more tools....good luck to everyone else trying this with a sedan

Okay...yesterday I received a 3.7 VLSD from a 2008 G37 AT. $400 shipped. I'll be undertaking the swap sometime in the next few weeks...sooner, I hope.
Looks like about three hours is a reasonable time to budget for this?
From reading this thread, it sounds like I'll have to cut the input shaft a little. Anyone think a Dremel will do the job, or do I need to buy a die grinder/cutoff wheel combination? Maybe I could rent one instead.
For those who've done this swap at home, how are you supporting the car while working underneath it? I'm thinking jack it up at the differential, then place jackstands under the jack points on the unibody. I'm not a huge fan of crawling around under cars supported by jackstands, but without access to a lift, I don't see an alternative.
Thanks to those who've contributed information so far on this swap.
