that said, you don't want to rev in 1st too much. skip-shifting is best for mild to moderate acceleration, if you need to jump on it just shift normally. i rarely go over 3k rpms, most shifts are by 2500. also, leave a bit of extra time for the synchros to slow down while skip-shifting.
My friend's 05 GTO does this force shift from 1-4.

I always do the 1-4/5 or if I'm feeling stupid I'll floor it in 1st off a light till redilne and then shift to 6th and cruise..

My friends 03 terminator cobra will pull harder than my car if he's flooring it in 3rd/4th @ 1500 rpms than if I were in 1st or second.. he's bone stock too.

It makes no sense to go from 1st to 4th. You'd have to rev up to atleast 4500 RPM's to fall within a reasonable RPM range in 4th gear.

IMO, you should never skip the first two gears. They are just too tall to be skipping.

I would never go 1-4 or even 1-3.

If you want to save gas, then just shift at around 1800-2200 RPMs on most of your shifts. That's what I do; personally, I just don't like skipping gears.

I was thinking that too, though 1-3 isn't too bad if you're already at 20mph coming out of 1st. Normal everyday driving, I row through all the gears. I normally skip shift if I'm gunning it out of a turn or merging. For example, merging onto a fast road, gun 1st and 2nd, then by that time, I'm up to 45-50mph, so just throw it into 5th and cruise, skipping 3rd and 4th.
