DIY: Differential Fluid Change
well man i changed mine and i had no shavings.. maybe it just happens on some of them, and maybe its worth taking the diff cover off to have a look at the gear? I hope for the best, never like to see a fellow g owner having problems with their ride
bc the dumb *** at my local dealership said three.. i need to fix that, thanks
Yeah, what Shane said is true. My fluid was clear, and the metal shavings were only on the tip of the magnetic bolt only, so I feel safe for having 60K+ on the car. If your used fluid has any particles, or the bolt has alot of shavings, better open it up and take a look. Better safe than sorry.
Yes, I believe so. The transfer case takes the power from the transmission and sends it to the front and rear axles (diffs). So the front and rear diff can use 3rd party fluid, and the transfer case would use the OEM fluid.
Don't use an LSD additive in the stock diffs. The part that makes the stock differentials have limited slip is the viscous coupling. The viscous fluid is inside the coupling and can't be changed.
G35 Transfer Case
I have a 2006 G35 coupe (RWD) and the dealership recommended I have my transfer case fluid changed along with my rear differential fluid (140,000 km service).
I thought transfer case would only apply to AWD vehicles?
Is there a transfer case for my RWD vehicle and if so should I have the fluid changed?
Any thoughts on auto transmission flush at this mileage?
Many thanks!
