Humming noise from the rear end

Hey all. I just got a used '04 coupe 6mt fully loaded.

I noticed that the highway noise is quite high. I'm not sure what it is, but a moderately loud humming noise is coming from the rear when on the high way. The faster I go, the louder it gets. How can I tell if its tire noise or something else, like the rear diff or a bearing?

I sure hope it is the tires

These are the tires that are on it front and back. They are a bit worn and I'm looking to replace them.

You should check your tires and make sure that they are not cupping. It is really common on these cars. It is caused by the alignment being off. I have the same problem in the front when I first go my used 04 G35 coupe.

it could also be the wheel bearings.

Sounds like a wheel bearing to me...but very worn/bad tires can cause similar issues too.

Well, AutoZone has wheel bearings for $70. Labor is no issue. I feel like I'm getting ripped off on tires in my local shops. No one carries the stock 245 45 18, or they want $200 / each... What to do. I made the stupid mistake of buying the car and not demanding tires to be put on it....

TireRack seems to be a favored here...

I hear that humming noise on my 08 sedan coming from the middle of the car on passenger side. I don't hear it too often though
