G35X Speed vs. RPM

I just bought a used 2005 G35x with 50 K miles.

I notice that engine rpm is a function of speed, i.e., 2000RPM @ 50 MPH, 2500RPM @ 55 MPH, 3000 RPM @ 60 RPM etc.

My other cars' transmissions typically kept the RPM close to 2000RPM regardless of the speed.

Is this normal for a G35?

Thanks,
Mike
