Correct, it doesn't affect anything negatively.
You unbolt the pulley.
Put the spacer behind the power steering bracket.
Screw the pulley bolts back in.
Install new belts.

ISSUE HAS BEEN FIXED, HERE IS WHAT IT WAS:
A spacer fell off on the Idler pulley on the AC belt and was causing the belt to move back and forth, once the spacer was put back in the sound was gone but there was still a loud squeak (almost like crickets). The squeak was coming from underneath the car. There was a bracket hitting the exhaust pipes. The bracket had lost bolts and was not sitting in place, once it was put back into place and bolted the squeaking went away. The car sounds PERFECT now
