Is the shifter really this bad?!

New to G35 ownership...drove 3 G35's at the dealer and all three had what felt like the crappiest shift linkage I've ever had the opportunity of using. Even my pontiac grand am back in 97 felt nicer.

What I'm referring to is not the throw of the shifter, but the "looseness"....it feels like its coupled with huge rubber bushings or something to the tranny via a linkage made of jello. Does the aftermarket shifter fix this, or is there a bushing kit (ala WRX....infamous mod on those cars) we can get? I can't help but thinking how cheap the car feels every time I drive it, and fixing the shifter is going to hopefully totally cure that (I really love the car otherwise, thus the reason I bought it).

Cliffs notes....shifter is super sloppy, throw is ok. Do the aftermarket "short throw" shifters also fix the looseness issue, or is that inherant in the linkage to the tranny?

I would be interested to know this as well, I totally agree on the sloppyness of it .... the stock 6mt shifter aint the best by far.

Of the manuals I have driven, I prefer the tranny from the two Camaro SS's I had. Nothing else has felt as nice to me...
