Totally useless. You would be better off remaining quiet.

whining...

i believe i have (or had) the same annoying noise...

when the temps cold and the first start of the day, there would be a whining/squealing noise coming from the engine bay area for the first few minutes of the drive...after the car was warmed up the noise would go away...

first noticed it last year, but didn't think much of it...as the temps got colder again this year, the whiny sound came back and had them check it out when i went in (for other unrelated service)...

on the write up, the resolution/fix was "replaced the eng. drive belts"...specifically lists the fan&alternator belt and the compressor belt...

i'd say the sound is about 99% gone now...on occasion, i think i hear it for a second or two, but it's probably more paranoia than anything (since i'm getting real close to the 60k warranty expiration)...

hope this helps...let me know if you need the parts numbers they listed or anything...

Why is that? He knew what I was talking about and we exchanged several PM's about the topic.
Seems to me yours is the "Useless" post.

During the summer I dynomatted my car. After I took the rear seats off, I didn't have time to dynomatt so I left them off for a few days. During that time, I would hear something you would describe as an air leak coming from the back seats, but it was loud enough where you could definately hear it. You may want to try taking off the back seats and see if the sound gets louder. It only takes about 20 minutes to take the back seats off. There is only 2 bolts you have to take off.

I have the identical problem. It sounds like air is passing by the driver's side window. It only lasts for about five minutes nd only when it's very cold. BTW I was driving my son's '95 Mercury Sable last night, you know the poor quality American built car. Anyway the car has over 100K miles on the odometer, and the dam thing doesn't have even a hint of a rattle or squeak. On the other hand, it seems that every week I discover and have to fix another rattle on my G which has all of 3500 miles on the odometer. Very disappointing, even on a modestly priced car.

BINAR,

The dealership ordered the weather strips, so when they are installed I will let everyone know if that solves the problem. So far they replaced the fuel pump, which did not change the noise.

ck out this thread

the drowning sound seems is common among us, not sure if it's a problem.

ck out this thread on My350z.com

http://www.my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=154641

no solution has been found to cure the sound

so far in COLD weather I experience the drowning sound and hard time to get into second gear

just found out last nite my car is leaking coolant, that just ruined my Xmas, now I'm up 8am and still thinking about it.

happy holidays to you all.

I have the exact same whistling noise on my '06 also. I keep checking all my windows and sunroof to make sure it is closed! I'm glad I'm not the only one. It does go away after a bit so it's not that big of a deal. It's so hard to localize where the sound is actually coming from though...

Noise

Next week, on the 11th, I will be dropping the G35 at the dealership to install new weatherstripping. I'll let everyone know the results.

Noise Only When It Is Cold

Well, the new weatherstripping did not fix the problem. I'm out of ideas and my dealership is out of ideas. So, if anyone has any actual proven solution....
