Took me less than a hour and that’s only cause I triple check along the way. First I accept NO responsibility. Everything here is for 04 coupe. Quick check of 03 sedan and 06 coupe shows all the same. Have fun.

With engine off, put gear selector in drive.
Remove shift ****. Remove consol trim.
DISCONECT negative battery cable.
At front of shift selector you’ll find connector “M47”
With small flat blade pop “M47” out of hold clip.
Separate connector. On the male pin side, remove both the pin retainer clips.
With needle nose pliers gently pull on wire to release pin.
Swap 7 and 8. Re-assemble.

After a spirited test drive, I can’t call this a mod, it’s a fix. I have a more positive up-shift and less chance of premature downshift. It took virtually no getting use to, it cost NOTHING and if you don’t like it you can return to stock and no one will know.

I think I want to try this as well, but have you found a solution for the "+" and "-" indicators?

When I shifted the wrong direction a couple of times, then stomped on it, with the stereo blasting at Highway speeds....it wasn't good. I've got it down pretty well now, but I'm inclined to agree; it doesn't feel natural.

I did this mod a few weeks ago. I love it! Shifting up is just a finger movement toward you. Feels much more natural. Recommended!

I messed around with a few ideas (see link below). They all looked like ***. I gave up and haven't done the mod yet. I'd consider it if I could figure out an acceptable solution fo rthe direction indicators.

Who cares? not like people are inspecting your shifting in an automatic car.

I decided to go with MINES racing harness as it simply connects to M47 and flips the two wires for you. Bonus? It comes with really good looking Up and Down peel-n-stick bubbles to put over the '+' and '-'.

Added bonus? I didn't have to mess with flipping the two wires myself in such a cramped space.

Extra added bonus? I now have something to splice my paddle shifter conversion in to! ;o)

Just did mine and wanted to share some pictures.

Here you can see actual M47 location

Here you can see what it looks like unplugged

and finally the two wires that need to be switched.
(Green/Red left - Green right)

EDIT: Will also update with pics of my new "+" and "-" custom stickers this week!

Quick question..........Has anyone in South Florida - hell, Florida, for that matter - ever had the opportunity to:

1. Do this mod;
2. See it done;
3. Or have the technical expertise to do it?

You see, I've been in there (the console), seen where the work needed to be done, but couldnt' figure out how to get the steps in bold from Gordgee done..........without breakin' the damn thing.

That woulda sucked.

Long story, a tech at a local dealership has gotten this thread and says he can make it happen - likely by the 2nd week of March '11. Prefers I come by on a weekday. (In about 2-3 weeks.)

But, I'd just as soon drive to whomever's location, have them do it, and pay them some appreciation.

Somebody in The Sunshine State..............HOLLA!

How 'boutchyu, Tian? Who can you refer me to?

P.S...............I pay well. For this mod? VERY well. I want it that bad; dead serious. Speaking of:

So, who wants some tips from a bunch of dead presidents?

For little or no effort, at that. Hmm?

MINES racing harness connector is brain dead simple

Really? It is so easy to simply go with MINES racing harness as it simply connects to M47 and flips the two wires for you. No popping out pins, cutting wires, soldering, popping back in... The best part is it comes with really good looking Up and Down peel-n-stick bubbles to put over the '+' and '-'.

Took all of 5 minutes total time, including removing the center console and popping it back on.

I know, Mark!! Freakin pitiful how much time I've spent thinking about this mod, but still haven't gotten it done..........ain't it?

Don't answer, thank you very much.

Nah, your advice is well taken, not to mention, I've seen your comments on other threads regarding the simplicity of the MINES harness.

One consolation - for me, I should say - is that by this time next month it'll have been done.

I need to sh...(never mind), or get off the pot, I know. Such is the life of the (in some cases) technical dumb@ss.

I'm dangerously bordering on creating my own mental drama, and I don't roll like that.

My ultimatum to me? As much as I use manual mode?

Get the reversal done - one way or another - by Friday, 3/11...........or shut the hell up, quit b!tchin, and deal with it. Forever.

Now I'm off to do some research and make my decision.........MINES, dealership, or fellow enterprising G-enthusiast.

Adios, brother. Thanks for the input.
