JWT Cams VQ35DE: +16HP 2003 Only

Has anyone put these CAMS on there 2003 G35??? I did a search and all that came up was a bunch of talk about 04 and up people not being able to use these but I couldn't find any real results... http://intensepower.com/sojwtca35.html I have an 03 so thats not an issue.. Just curious if any other 03 guys have installed these on a N/A motor..

Yeah, somebody did a full writeup on the cam deal. I think the consensus is that by the time its done, you're looking at a $2000 mod for 11-15 HP. Not so good. Probably better N/A stuff out there for that money, or a nice down payment on a FI setup.

hhmmm a 1,000 for a cam install sounds a little high...I can get them shipped for 1,100 to my door... I think 400 to 550 is what it will cost to do the install..

I've never tried to get a quote on a cam install, but I'd have to guess that 400 to 500 is a tad low.

I can't remember what drives the price up, but maybe springs and clips are required?

To do cams is a biatch! If you take a look at the manual you'll understand. Its about a 800.00 job.

Off the top of my head, this is what needs to be done to install cams on a VQ-series motor:

1) remove intake tract and intake manifold
2) remove valve covers
3) remove timing chain cover
4) remove timing chain
5) remove cam chains
6) remove cam pulleys
7) remove cam retainers

Factor in new gaskets and some new shims for the cams and you could easily be looking $900-1,200 for the installation of 4 cams. It's not a simple job to say the least.
