K&N Filter Worth it

Is it worth it to get the K&N Filter?
Does it REALLY give you more hp? probably only 1-2 ?
Do I have to tell the dealer not to toss it when I bring the car in for a tuneup or will they know to just clean it?
Does it REALLY give me better mileage?

I was told by the dealer before i got the filter for my fiances car that it voided warranty due to fitment issues. I have not had 1 CEL since install. It fits fine. HP will probably be very minimal but the display at autozone says it works enough for me. When i took the car in for the 30k service i told them not to change the filter and they just deducted the price of a filter and "labor". They never said anything about it. I also have a z tube installed and have not had any problems from that either. Just buy a K&N cleaning kit and clean and oil it your self and don't trust the dealer to do it. They will probably just blow air through it.

don't expect any HP or mileage gains. it doesn't do squat, I've had them in all of my cars in the past. The main benefit is that it's washable. if it gets dirty just rinse and reoil, no need to go to the parts store to pick up a new filter.

i agree with pretty much all of the above....

K&N is a good brand, but not necessarily necessary. if you want a guaze filter, pick up a decent brand, doesnt have to be k&N, but something that can be washed and reused.

intakes add in a bit more air velocity which normally equates to more power over stock parts so thats the upgrade up from a filter drop in...

if you put just an intake on a stock car, yeah, it doesn't really do much

but if you have, lets say, spacer/mRev, headers, high flow cats, exhaust

then an intake will make a big difference....or even with just a couple of the mods listed above, it'll make a noticable difference
