Review: K&N Drop-in filter

In case you were wondering, no change in anything besides my wallet.

However, this is the first step to future (i.e. later this week) upgrades - z-tube, 5/16 spacer, & headers, so the K&N will help after the other mods installed.

Don't waste your money on headers unless your building FI or decent NA mods to require it - you'll waste extreme wallet spacers ;-)

I'm mostly doing the headers 1) to improve the tone of the stock exhaust, and 2) because I got them at a helluva price

Any HP gains will be ancillary to me. I don't race and I don't drive around at 5k rpms all day long. I have noticed a subtle power difference since the z-tube/spacer install this weekend. I like it.

Don't get me wrong - as far as enhancing the sound of the exhaust - they are great - for general performance of a lightly modded car though - not worth the money for HP gain...that was my argument.

I got them for both reasons...

I totally understand your view, and I completely agree with it - if I were made to pay retail price for headers, they would be one of my last mods.

But since I only paid $75 for my Topspeed Pro-1s, I think the end result on my car is worth the cost. If you don't believe me, search the marketplace here.

It is my understanding that replacing the G headers is a huge amount of labor and hence that +lots of money for 6-10 horses.

But hey, I am looking at 4K for my 40 extra horses over stock.
