I have a change coming up this weekend. I'm really on the fence with this.. I've had m1 in for 3 1/2 years, since 5k.. now at 36k.

The service writers at my dealer are really straight forward. They know I do my own changes and assumed I used M1. They have made several comments that I really shouldn't use it on the VQ. I showed them my Blackstones and we agreed that it seemed ok for me.. They were mostly relaying what they had heard from Infiniti. I always assumed it was a ploy to stop people from going with extended mileage. As we know, regardless of oil, after 7500, the Vq just doesnt do so well.

But, I cant ignore all the negative feedback on M1/VQ.

I located some German Castrol, $6,19 a qt. The money doesnt bother me, I just cant make the leap to 0W-30. I always change before 4k, so thats probably a waste anyway. what to do.. what to do..

When doing oil change is it necessary to put in cheap dino oil to drain and clean out all the old oil before putting in the new old?

Thats overkill, and you'll have to wait quite a while to let all the new oil you poured in to drain
