new to forum: Old G owner.. Question Rattle\Not clicking. From rear end Not interior

I have a 2003 g35c w/24k on the clock 6mt.

Recently I've started to hear.. a dreadful noise coming from the rear.. seems to be more near the drivers side rear.. Not inside the cabin, but clearly outside of the car.

It sounds like something is lose, something metal.. and is rattling/shaking around under acceleration and deceleration. The clutch is still smooth, switching gears is smooth.. Everything is normal.. except for this odd noise..

I cant call it a clicking.. or anything of the sort.. its definitely a rattling that comes/goes with Deceleration / Acceleration.

I have an extended warranty from Infiniti, however I was just hoping someone would know somewhat of what the issue is.. or if its a Common TSB I could point the dealer guys to.

Looking forward to participating in this forum.

hey.. welcome to the forum

sorry to hear the problems.. hope we can help..

first question is: do you have any aftermarket exhausts? alot of the times the rattling is from a loose bolt or poor installation.. i recently got an HKS and i heard rattling as well.. just a loose nut

if not.. i cant really help you.. best bet it just to take it to the dealer and askem whats up..

GL with the fix and have fun w/ your car

Yeah, if it's only happening on initial acceleration and on deceleration, then it sounds like the exhuast is vibrating against something. ^ Could also be a loose bolt as said above.

License plate screwed on tight? Those tend to rattle from time to time.

It sounds like you have a TSB issue with the rear axle needing some lube. I'm taking my G in to the dealer today to confirm if this is the issue I have.

Several scenarios from my experiences:

1) axle clicking - this is warranty issue
2) if you have any after market exhaust parts, check all the heat shields to make sure they are tight, put some foam between them and the car, remove them, or make sure the exhaust is solid and have it welded in loose areas
3) sound deaden your whole trunk - I had a rattle coming from somewhere inside/outside, it sounded like metal dinging. was very hard to determine so I just got a lot of butyl matting and some closed-cell foam and started deadening everything back there.

too freaken bad for me cause before I bought the G the previous owner changed the rotor to aftermarket so the dealer couldnt help me with the sound...they had to charge me to just look at it...so I said **** it...the noise didn't bother me much...but I think the axle are still okay...
